@mcn @maique I have been wanting to redo Obscura’s filter system but at least some of the filters get really nice results 😅

@sentience Yep. But I think the reason many people move to Obscura or Halide is for the manual controls I listed, and so they wouldn’t benefit from Auto Depth, and would most likely be frustrated with the inconsistency

@sentience Obscura does exactly that, minus the auto depth capture.

Manual photo mode for setting like focus, white balance, ISO+Shutter Speed

Auto Photo mode for the virtual camera, giving you seamless camera switching

@sentience @halide there’s been no mention of APIs yet.

But even if that eventually exists, Depth capture is requires using the vitual camera, which means you wouldn’t be able to use features like manual focus or manual ISO+Shutter Speed

Unless Apple really overhauls the whole framework

One of the most stupidly complicated features in Obscura is that you can set different appearances (dark/light/auto) for the camera and the rest of the app independently

@onlinegoddess I appreciate you saying so, both about the pricing and the fact that it’s easier to use!

As soon as I decided on subscriptions being the pricing model going forward, my top priority was making sure Obscura 3 users didn’t feel they were being tricked, or being overcharged.

And while I can’t promise that it’ll be there forever, I don’t have any plans to change the discount for Obscura 3 customers!

I’ve been a Pokémon fan for as long as I can remember, but I drifted away from the games during the Nintendo DS era.

When I came back, a new type, Fairy, had been introduced. And it threw off my understanding of the game’s balancing that never fully recovered.

Whenever I play, I find myself constantly googling type matchups. I figured an app would be a much nicer experience, but I wasn’t impressed with any of the existing options.

And so I built Aether.
