So... having arrived on a new instance, I guess I'll do a hello - Hello!

I'm a technology journalist with aspirations to become a therapist. Originally from the UK, I'm now living in Poland with my wife, daughter and two Malamutes.

I'm a trans woman about 2 and a half years into my transition, one year of hormone treatment, and now planning surgery (which is complicated slightly by being in Poland!).

Very much hoping that lgbtqia.space proves to be as lovely an instance as my previous home (mastodon.lol, which is sadly due to close)

No, Sirona Ryan is not trans.

Saying that Sirona Ryan from the Hogwarts Legacy video game is a transgender character gives the developers too much credit. With just a single line of dialogue implying that she might be and developers refusing to say for sure, Ryan isn't even canonically trans.

This is an okapi calf named Ede, born at the London Zoo.

Okapi look like they'd be related to zebras (or hyenas!), but they're forest cousins to the giraffe, diverging from a common ancestor about 11 MYA.

They're the only other giraffid. Their IUCN status is Endangered.

I remember running into this nonsense back when I was trying to eagerly embrace Metro apps when Windows 8 was released. I'm less eager to attempt to work with it these days, though.

Today I decided to check out the Amazon Prime Video app in the Windows Store to maybe get better playback than I can with Firefox. All seemed to be going well for a while until I found out that "Metro" apps still behave in ridiculous ways on multi-display systems when one is doing standard desktop stuff. UAC prompts pause and minimize the app, moving a Window to the screen with the app does the same, and not even PowerToys' Always On Top can stop it from doing what it shouldn't.

What a joke.
