It should not be controversial to say that I am against genocide in any and all forms.

Listening to The Cranberries Zombie, thinking about world events right now. Thinking about all the innocent people on both sides right now in the Middle East that lost their lives, their children, their family members. Terrorism and ethnostate expansionist ethnic cleansing are both terrible things, and one doesn't have to condone one to condemn the other. Both hurt the innocent. And I'm sick of our government using our money to support it without much of our say, if any.
Eat prey. Love.
Monarchies are an immoral concentration of stolen wealth and power, and it should all be returned from whence it came. That's all I have to say on the topic.
@toddo it's sometimes used to foster a sense of community and alliance, e.g. I am not a lesbian or trans but I ally myself with them and recognize that we're fighting a common enemy, and that policy solutions that benefit the most marginalized of us benefit all of us. I tend to use it and queer interchangeably. But policing how other people self-identify isn't cool, and how you identify is personal to you, so if you don't identify as LGBTQ and prefer a more specific term, cool

The third party Android app Tusky has just been updated to version 20 in Google Play.
The new version allows you to follow hashtags within the app itself, instead of having to log in through the website first. ("Click on a hashtag and then on the icon in the toolbar.")
The third party app Fedilab also supports this.
If you are still using the official Android app, you might want to try Tusky or Fedilab instead.
(For F-Droid users, Tusky should be updated there soon.)
@RussellsBarbershopQuartet (it's also why talk of commercially-run ActivityPub / Mastodon etc instances scares me, because it means that there could be a fandom-like hellsite version of Mastodon too)
@RussellsBarbershopQuartet thanks for sharing, glad to know there's an alternative! In return, have a random fact I know: Fandom was created by some of the same people as wikipedia, notably as a for-profit wikia site instead of a not-for-profit site like wikipedia. Community supported sites like wikipedia are an alternative to hellsites like fandom. So reminder to donate to wikipedia if you can, because if donors don't support it, it will become like the fandom hellsite.
I do not like that this needs to exist, but I'mma boost it until it's not. Do likewise, as you will.
Itβs good to see engagement and use growing here. It would be healthy to have a social platform free of the billionaire oligopoly and the corporate ad folks, donβt you think?
I'm gonna need queer allies to get thier shit toghter and help fight beyond a like on a post or a meme. Don't tolerate bigoroty in your private or public live. To fight alone is exhausting
@mehemken @Gargron reposted here not to discourage but to let you know what you have to do if you want to host in the US. But yeah, the fact that we have to do this shows that DMCA isn't the copyright law we need for the next generation internet. Particularly, we need to revise how we handle fair-use and liability. But in the mean time, having tools for DMCA and other copyright compliance as well as GDPR and other privacy compliance built into Mastodon would be great!
mastodon might seem confusing at first, but dont worry, you'll become gay soon enough
I would like to lobby for the conversation pit to return to interior design.
I swear, if my shitposting at a troll pretending to be Elmo Mork actually reaches the real Elvis Mist and manages to get him to donate to charities, well, then that would be the most hilarious thing to happen on Mastodon so far.
