2024 was a record year for renewables.

Renewable generation reached 47% of the EU power mix, helping to bring down average wholesale electricity prices since 2021.

Here are some key figures:

🔼 Hydropower output improved by 13%
🔽 Demand for gas was 20% lower than 2021 levels, and renewables played a big role

Footnote: the reason Trump is non-serious about business is because Trump doesn't understand how real businesses work. He thinks like a mobster, or a real estate salesman: all customer interactions are a prisoner's dilemma with no iteration (how many times a month do you buy an office block from the same salesman?!?) so *of course* "always defect" is a winning game-theoretical strategy.

The Federal Trade Commission are in court from tomorrow in a case against Meta which, if successful, could force Mark Zuckerberg to unravel the purchases of WhatsAp & Instagram.

The Q, is whether Trump will try to lean on the FTC to go easy, or throw the case (or even withdraw it), or whether first he might use it to extract some tribute from Facebook/The Zuck.
