@cstross - as an ex-aerospace Quality Dude (full disclosure: I’ve worked with Boeing engineers) I have to wonder why removable fasteners in a non-accessible area (everything is covered by insulation and interior panels) aren’t safety-wired. This, along with the fact that the plug was designed to be removed TO THE UNPRESSURIZED side of the fuselage are both critical design flaws that should’ve been dealt with before the first aircraft was manufactured.
