@appagalcrochet @faithisleaping Yes, layering is the key (but also, not wearing jeans). I always have a pair of HeatTech Ultra Warm leggings from Uniqlo on if I really want to wear jeans, and hiking pants on top if I'm outside for a longer period of time or if it's particularly windy.

You'd be warmer with just a really good pair of leggings. Heavy a-line skirts are pretty efficient covers, but it's quite difficult to find a nice one from good fabric.

Sometimes, having purple hair and pronouns is signaling to others that you won't be an asshole with no self-awareness, and they react as if the space is safe with you around.

For example, this morning the owner of the local fruit store was listening to chants and prayers on their phone when I came in, but switched (back?) the audio to the store speakers when he recognized me. I always feel safe there.
