@ifixcoinops I have that same wire stripper tool and it’s one of the best things I think I’ve ever bought
UX Designer. Voiceover Guy. Sentimental fool. I make stuff.
I spend creative time on DIY electronic projects, graphic design (logos, tshirts, etc), voiceover work, A/V production, web and app design and engineering, digitizing and archiving old media, and learning as many new skills as I possibly can.
@ifixcoinops I have that same wire stripper tool and it’s one of the best things I think I’ve ever bought
@nirak I have recommendations if you get into actual budgeting level interest, our usage is still on the lower distance side (no 15mi trips) - which is precisely why we use the ebike instead of a car for those trips
@nirak totally - I charge my ebike off patio solar panel so unless we have a bad winter week it’s off grid
When white is the default, everything else is “identity.”
When whiteness is conflated with competence, everything else is DEI.
Most Black folks already know this. The rest of America is about to get a crash course
@nirak I got one to replace a lot of highly localized car trips, and my wife gradually replaced her acoustic bike usage with it. So it's both for us, which I think is weirder and not in conflict with what you're saying
20 years ago, I happened to be in Vancouver BC on Remembrance Day and I had no idea what it was at first, but the contrast between the US and Canada was never more stark than my experience that day. The vibe was a mix of sorrow and regret—that war is terrible for everyone and should be avoided and we're sorry that anyone died in a horrible conflict.
Then I returned to the US, where it's "Congrats, Veterans!" and a weekend of big sales at stores with little American flags everywhere.
i guess we *are* getting the bell riots, then
This is a really fantastic list.
S01E25 - The Neutral Zone will grab certain people and explains the cultural gap well
S03E10 - The Defector will grab certain others and shows what the show can do dramatically
But they are accents you’d throw in depending on who you’re talking to https://mastodon.social/@tvaziri/113431534136723874
@bobschooley Greetings from Santa Barbara
@danhon Drumpfenschmerz
the age of Move Fast and Break Things is over, and we now enter an age of Move Slow Within Broken Things
@hotdogsladies So many relatable moments there.
“I hope you FUCKING DIE, HARLEY JARVIS”
Basically a Hummel figure for a certain age.
Sorry but saying "most technological problems are actually human problems" and then never in any way attempting to understand or put rigor to the human problems is lazy and not cutting it in 2024
@ancientjames this self effacing alt text is top shelf
In 2017, I paid Cards Against Humanity to protect a pristine plot of border land from Trump’s racist wall. But then an even richer, more racist billionaire—Elon Musk—stole my land and dumped his shit all over it. Elon Musk owes me $100. #ElonOwesMe100Bucks
@axbom Got it. I certainly see the hypocrisy, but I also bristle at policing when people can call a turd a turd.
Sadly I also think most “I just want this email to sound professional” people aren’t really clear on how that sausage is made - not an excuse for the hypocrisy but I do get them being like “wait they are going to profit off my labor?!?”
@axbom I don’t use those tools, so I’m clear on your take here, but I do think as a UX professional I can take issue with a stealth automatic opt-in on a site I signed up for 14 years ago, that obliquely mentions sharing my data with “affiliates” and doesn’t mention they are wholly owned by a majority investor in OpenAI.
I used to post way too much on Twitter, and I made a point to dial it back when migrating. Playing a bit with that slider now.
