Wondering about shifting to BlueSky for day to day, or even TikTok.

Am not getting the same experience as twitter.

2024-08-29

@yatil @torgo I didn't say it was...

2024-08-29

Also... I love TikTok now. So so good.

Really don't want to try to start creating content for TikTok but... maybe that's the way to go. Engagement metrics are so much higher.

2024-08-29

@torgo Why? Not disagreeing that it would be a good thing, but it's essentially being treated like flu in terms of health policy in the UK.

2024-08-29

I don't know how to do social media any more. The communities I used to engage with are so fragmented, and I don't really want to join 47 discord servers, have 14 different social media accounts, and try to keep up.

Twitter worked on so many levels, and it has been destroyed.

What are the major think tanks focused on Net Zero?

Do any exist?

I'm not talking about climate change pressure groups, but specifically Net Zero.

Also, does any polling company really understand the impacts of climate? No poll seems have an underpinning of climate issues.

I need a good meeting agenda timer.

When running an online meeting externally with a known agenda and timings, it's really useful for the organiser(s)/chair(s) to have an indication if they are ahead or behind schedule.

Not just a "green/amber/red" but "running 3 mins behind".

Ideas for tools for this?

Preferably *separate* from the actual meeting (so not a zoom app for example).

So...
* add an agenda and timings
* shareable (viewer/editor?)
* Add time to a section/auto reduce others
* etc

For further reference, read this opinion from @johnharris1969 on how special educational needs provision (SEND) has been destroyed by a lack of money.

Our knowledge of who needs SEND provision has increased hugely in recent years.

The money has not.

@proactivepaul yup. Too small.

I genuinely spent a long time just trying to find anything...

It does amaze me how there is only one given the frequency of the letter in the English language and the fact that Britain has had multiple monarchs and important people whose names start with E.

What the actual fuck?!?

(I rarely swear but this is really really bad)

This is attacking the symptom not the cause.

They need help not police.

@proactivepaul if you didn't cheat then very well done

2024-05-18

DO NOT CHEAT!

It's far too easy to just get onto websites with lists of cities.

Have a go at least.

2024-05-18

Challenge:

Name a city (not municipality) that:

* Starts with "E"
* Not in Europe or USA (too easy)
* And is either
* over 1 million inhabitants
* or a national capital of an independent nation (not British overseas territories for example)

I can only find one.

For the last year or so, I've been a Non-Exec Director mentor on Connectd (buff.ly/4buysLb)

The mentoring conversations I have are some of the most positive engagements I have and I realise that people seem to really appreciate the time.

Feeling positive right now.

Question: I've been looking at how to measure water quality in rivers, and can't find much open source hardware in this space, and I'm wondering if anyone is working on this?

2024-05-03

I was just wondering if ChatGPT could design an electronics circuit.

So I gave it the outputs I wanted. And it's just told me what all the components I would need are and how to connect them...

It's pretty straight forward.

Just trying to get a diagram out now...

2024-05-02

@cpswan oooh.... it is addictive. It's also annoyingly hard to find good projects that allow for some... noob mistakes (additional components and the like).
