Re-reading Michael Rock’s “Mad Dutch Disease” piece (written in the Bush years) really hits differently in the era of neoliberalism’s demise. Koolhaas, Lockheed Martin, Crouwel vs JvT, defense spending…

there is a small faction of the San Francisco design scene that reveres extra slender books to a disturbing degree. i'm talking about w x h = 1 : 5 level stiffness

It was in 1975 that mayor Ford infamously said, “New York, drop dead!” – and precisely half a century later, the dead has come back alive!

one of the unintended consequences of the Left shouting technofeudalism all the time is that tech CEOs really took that to heart and dutifully started cosplaying as feudal lords

I think this is it for FontExplorer. Fresh installed v7.0.1 on my new Mac, app runs perfectly fine, but will not recognize my valid license file and stays in 90-day trial mode – potentially because their activation servers are shut down. The app also can’t check for updates anymore (previously it would've prompted me to upgrade to v7.3), possibly due to the same reason.

(nvm I found a crack)

now, this isn’t to take the angry grandpa stance of “young people do this because their brains are all cooked”. Since global financialized capitalism is exactly “shit happens out of nowhere” I do wonder if this chaos-native gen Z will give us adequate representational tools to finally respond

One of the funniest thing I see from iOS26 release is suddenly UI designers are claiming software is art. Dude I don’t think you’re ready for the art criticism once you elevate it there

One thing I noticed with interaction design lately is, generally, UI is moving towards “stuff just happens out of nowhere” – maybe Gen Z is really accustomed to this from all the electron and FYP stuff they see all day

if you don’t like your fonts’ customers you don’t have to refuse their business. instead you can take their money to fund their opposition
