@vga256 yes definitely noticed - I’ve shared it with Andre Durand. He was interviewed in BBSCON 94, which you’ll find here ar 1:47:30 here https://youtu.be/_nxi0vApcbc?si=1jAkf1_kvECAHdUj
@vga256 @mijustin there was a competing product of a similar nature called DarkStar. The author demos it here at 13:44 - https://youtu.be/7hzf9qOVkSM?si=zhWVGVQROiRL8PWb
@AF0AJ any chance you have any of Boardwatch April through November 1987 (inclusive)? These are the early ones missing from Chris Anderson’s archive, which is where I found them to scan….
@AF0AJ I understand - it is a deep rabbit hole! I scanned a ton of old Boardwatch magazines (back to the very first one) that are now on archive org, too, if those interest you. Anyways I have the apparatus to image disks, should you ever wish.
@AF0AJ @particlesbbs I have a greaseweazle (like kryoflux) and can probably image these floppies for you if you like…. KB1FIY here in north Denver metro. I too am a bit of a BBS era aficionado.
@AF0AJ That this is in a structured wiring cabinet is very gratifying.
@AF0AJ out of curiosity, did you learn Morse code when younger or older - any tools in particular that were helpful for you?
@vga256 will definitely get them all to the archive. One more for tonight, for @tomjennings https://drive.google.com/file/d/1w9RAF4sBnoK-LbucLwUTSHxYZDrRbsV4/view?usp=drivesdk
@vga256 you’re welcome! Happy to still unearth this stuff and see that it is preserved. I’ll get the highest quality transfer I can on archive org.
@ghewgill also, I did a California roadtrip last month up through Sequoia and I thought back to days as a WC4/5 beta tester. I took a small detour and snapped this pic, which may look familiar… anyways, hope all is well in NZ. :-)
@ghewgill i just saw a magic number “GHSH” while exploring an old binary and thought I’d say hi!
@vga256 thanks, here’s hoping your luck is better than mine!
@vga256 thanks, yeah I have the distribution CD thanks to vetusware, but I’m trying to find original media for the addons. There are some versions of a few addons out there, but there isn’t much in the way of provenance, and the “wccode” package cannot be updated with any of the 4 patches that were distributed.
@vga256 hey, did this come with addons or just the BBS? I have my original box, all the manuals, and the license key even, but all my media is lost 😭
@nerb So you did ultimately run TBBS? I too had planet connect in order to alleviate the pummeling of my 56k circuit by usenet…
@vga256 I was able to extract it - seems pretty much standard contents with just some very minor modifications to load some OEM graphics from the server. Thanks for sharing!
@fozztexx ok a couple more continuity checks if/when you can. U1 pin 1 and 19 to 10. U2 pin 1 and 19 to 10. U2 pin 9 to either end of R20. The other end of R20 to U2 pin 20. I think these should all have continuity, and if so, I just need to get the mechanicals done for the ISA slot bracket and I’ll send to fab.
