In today's episode of "Other ways to waste my time", I've been playing around with simple GLSL shaders.

I went for a 12 mile cycle/walk down by the river and canal this afternoon. It's a statement on the state of the world that I saw multiple more military cargo planes than dragonflies. Though that does mean I did see a dragonfly.
It's reached that time of year where the sun gets up before I go to bed, which is always a little confusing. But at least I get to see some pretty sunrises.
That takes me back to visiting Cyberdog in Camden in the late 90s early 2000s.

I'd say this journey is age dependent.
Reddit wasn't around when I was running m68k v0.96 on my Amiga 1200 and telnetting into BBSs over 56k dialup.
It wasn't long after I switched platform to the PC that I was running Slackware as a nice clean distro, after rejecting the mess that was RedHat. A friend said if you like Slackware you should give FreeBSD 4.3 a try. It took literally one install for me to be a full convert and evangelist of the BSDs.
I guess the equivalent of the Reddit post was when I wrote a blog entry on patching the FreeBSD kernel to get an IDE CD writer running via the CAM SCSI subsystem and I got an email from someone letting me know that my post had been invaluable to help them getting their burner working under FreeBSD.

@andre @siege@octodon.social There were always fuses in the distribution board since the time electricity was in widespread use.
The fuse in the power distribution board is to primarily protect the circuit (prevent overload causing fire), the fuse in the appliance plug is to provide some level of protection for the person and the appliance against certain types of fault that would not cause enough current draw to blow the much higher rated fuse in the distribution board. Appliance plug fuses are rated based on the application (3A, 5A, 13A).
Threw this together just now for #IronChefOfMusicChallenge. No idea what the rules are or even if there are any. I don't have an account on the site so throwing it here.

@Catonauts @BarrenPlanet I use the deck layout and the lists widget to give me a list of users I want 'pinned'. I wasn't aware of any pinned feature but I will keep my eye out for that.
@kristian @ferricoxide @oliphant@oliphant.social My antennas backfilled when I set them up but it took a little while before that happened so I'm guessing it's a background process for them to be initialised. I have posts in my antennas that are from before I even joined the site.
@vantablack@beach.city I get that sort of thing a lot when I'm looking for tutorials on various aspects of music design. Even when they do point to something that's free to use it's often just a pointer to that free thing and then the tutorial continues using some proprietary feature of the thing they are actually using and not giving an illustration of how to do something in general terms.
I watched one on 'how to make IDM' recently and it was literally "buy this plugin and use these presets, isn't it great how you don't have to spend all the time Aphex Twin did writing his tracks to get that sound!". No, not at all. I was hoping to get some further insight in to the techniques used so that I can build on them not make tracks that sound identical to T69 Collapse.
@GabeMoralesVR@mastodon.gamedev.place Can confirm it's in there.
@GabeMoralesVR@mastodon.gamedev.place It might actually be included. IIRC Cannon Soccer was an Amiga Format Christmas cover disk.
@GabeMoralesVR@mastodon.gamedev.place I have no idea (it may even be supported, I've not explored it much. Too busy playing Cannon Fodder), but as I think that crossover was done in the Cannon Fodder engine it's quite possible that if you can extract the data from the disk it would be possible to get it to work. The Open Fodder project has a level editor to make your own levels so it would likely be possible to rebuild it even if it doesn't work out of the box so to speak.
