Here I am at my second BlueTeamCon, and I gotta say I couldn't be happier. I've found my people and this space is so much fun, and still entertaining! Thanks @alyssam_infosec for making sure I knew to come, and to everyone else who has made this place so welcoming.

@h2onolan @malanalysis Bad system management is bad system management, lol. I can't help people not doing their jobs, leadership that's either non-technical or divorced from the day to day reality, or systems that lack policies. Like, I get it, but you gotta do the work to have the stable and secure systems.

I've been in the midst of lots of 2.5+hour overtime days as the literal sole technical staffer at my small org (changing soon). But I know that once I get the systems set up correctly and do the work monitoring our systems and users, I'll rarely need to put in serious OT again.

@h2onolan @malanalysis @tinker Sure, but you can easily tell LAPS to cycle passwords at the end of the working period. Or if you have staff giving out those passwords, just initiate a cycle on each device as they're brought back up.

@malanalysis Huzzah. Given the number of issues they've been having in the last couple years though, you'd like to imagine there was at least some backup system in place. What that might be I can't say without more firsthand knowledge, but like "We're shutting down LAX" doesn't really seem like a good alternative.

As for Bitlocker, you just walk them through it one to one and have them enter it directly. It's not gonna keep every last one of them from writing it down but most won't bother once they realize it's 48 characters.

Friends, I did it. I have a new job.

I didn't make the jump to infosec but I am an IT Manager in two weeks and I'll be leading an agency dedicated to some very important causes and guiding their technical evolution.

I'm over the moon.

With this, it's important that I take the time to acknowledge so many of you, especially my old infosec T****r crew, as well as a number of my past managers and leaders who helped me see the value in myself and my experience and keep pushing forward. I literally wouldn't have done this without you.
