The upside to "batteries not included" is it usually means they're standard, common batteries, so you can use rechargeables that are easily replaced. The alternative often means either an obscure battery (coin, etc) you can't recharge, or a proprietary rechargeable that you can't replace.

I quit the bird site & moved to Mastodon/Bluesky ~2 yrs ago. I got used to social media being relatively quiet & mostly tech news & memes. It was nice. But with the recent migration, suddenly my timeline is 10x as active & full of angst. I love you all, but already going to do some follow trimming.

Seeing lots of people talk about how to mass-block the "other side" as everyone migrates from the bird site - which is great if you need to. But as my wife reminded me, fear and anger can come from doom scrolling allies who are raising a new red alert every 12 hours, too.

Tip for those trying to decide between Bluesky or Threads (or even Mastodon): #OpenVibe is a great (free) app that works across all 3 in a single feed. I've been using it for a few weeks. Seems to work pretty flawlessly w/ most of the features of each platform's native apps.

Well, that’s simply untrue. If you’re publishing defamatory imputations you shouldn’t be allowed to continue to publish them just because you spent a lot of money to make it happen. This is very telling, not only because Tractor Supply is stopping these DEI/ESG programs, but because they're putting out releases about it (which they didn't have to do) and making a point to list all the things they're stopping - and doing so at the close of Pride Month. This could have just been footnotes on a quarterly investor call, but they're making a big show of turning off their social programs.

@benfulton the city has made a reasonable effort to either have what it calls bike lanes or at least marked streets for "sharing the road". But in most of the city there is very little bike traffic, so drivers aren't used to dealing with cyclists. Also, (and one of the reasons biking is more rare) the city is fairly hilly in a lot of areas, so being able to go speed-of-traffic in a lot of areas is difficult.
