You may have noticed that images load slowly the last few weeks. I finally found the error here and everything should work fine.

The background is: I save only one size of an image initially. You never see this exact file. But instead when an image is requested the first time in a specific size I generate it and save it, so the next time the actual image is loaded.

When I updated to Laravel 12 the mechanism of the filesystem changed there and instead of saving the images in "…public/game-images/…" they were saved in "…public/public/game-images/…". For this reason every image was generated over and over again.

I would guess this was the cause for the slow performance in general. But I have to monitor this. But I'm glad I finally had the time (and much more importantly energy) to fix it.
It took me 8 minutes and annoyed me (and all of you) for weeks. 😅

@chronohart Ok, got it. The cost of it would be near zero especially as long reviews are a rarity. But for this I will take your feedback and stay at the current limit.

I have created a ticket for the count, so I can pick it up soon. Work is a bit stressful currently, but this will end soon (at least I hope so 😬) and I finally can work more on Questlog. 😊

@hk Thank you. I don't think it's any good, but if my users can work with it it's much more important. I work in this field for too long to not see all the problems. 😬

For me it looks like that. "Want to play" is far more than any other status. Some people have played 100 games but want to play over 500. 😁

I noticed Questlog is a bit slow currently.

I will look into that. Work is a bit stressful currently (that's also the reason for slow update progress), so I can't say when exactly. But I'll prioritize this.

If I can't provide any updates at the moment, I would at least like Questlog to work properly.

@hk but one question regarding your screenshot: Is this some Accessibility feature on your device that the button text has an underline? That shouldn't be there without any tinkering. 😅

@hk I just didn't find a way to show five items properly next to each other in such a small space. For the selection it works, but these have to be visible buttons and also have the count. So there's a space constraint, I have to battle.

But the probably better answer: I'm a terrible designer. That's the reason Questlog basically has no design.

I want to add some specific features and then redesign the whole thing to make more sense with what it can do now (or better then).

And for the reason "Want to play" is the biggest: Because it's the entry point. Also it's the most used status, so it seemed logical for me.

@chronohart To be honest, I would never have thought that someone ever reaches the limit.

I definitely can increase it. And including the character count is something I can do too fairly easily.

What do you think is the character limit you would need?

@polygonien Tatsächlich hat sich das Problem bereits behoben. Es war ein Fehler bei der IGDB und ich habe da jetzt einen direkten Kontakt. Also tatsächlich ist es jetzt besser als vorher.

Aktuell hab ich allerdings wenig Zeit und Energie, um viel zu machen. 3-5 Stunden die Woche für Wartung sind drin, aber neue Features entwickeln oder nicht kritische Sachen fixen ist gerade schwierig. Privat und auf Arbeit ist viel los und ich muss Familie und Geld verdienen etwas priorisieren.

Solange die Verbindung zur IGDB besteht (und sie haben mir zugesichert, dass das so bleibt, weil sie Questlog selbst ganz cool finden), bleibt auch Questlog bestehen.

War an dem Tag vielleicht etwas zu dramatisch. 😅

@AliveDevil Sadly not. I had mail contact with them and they had absolutely bo interest in this.

But the IGDB has some data for this for some time. It's definitely on my list.

The Summer Events Schedule i've been doing keeps growing each day! Happy to see the Southeast Asian Games Showcase, this summer's Women-led Showcase, Thinky Direct and Green Games Showcase, now all being listed alongside others on the Upcoming Events section!

@fror I really love that so many historical events were added. When this feature was added to the API I was glad to get it for new events. But having it go back to the early 2000 is a game changer.

The message is gone and links to stores should be fetched properly again. The IGDB made a few changes here that collided with my custom implementation for this.

Questlog should now work as good as before. 🤞

They were able to resolve the issue. 🎉

I have still no idea what the problem was, but I'm really happy now.

I will remove the message on the page soon. But I want to fix a small bug first that was introduced by a recent update of the IGDB API. (The bug is in Questlog not in the API though)

@73CC Dadurch dass ich keinerlei Tracking habe, ist Input die einzige Möglichkeit zu erfahren, was ich besser machen kann.

Also immer her damit. Ich muss nicht alles berücksichtigen, aber es mal gehört zu haben, führt in der Regel zu einem besseren Produkt für alle. 😁

@73CC Ich schreibe es mir mal auf. Ich mag die Idee eigentlich ganz gerne. Ich wollte mir eh nochmal Gedanken machen, wie ich das Ganze etwas aufbohren kann. Danke für den Input!
