@ddgulledge the tongue is too much

2023-01-09

@Haley_Sanderson_092018 exciting! Which one?

2023-01-06

@augmentedrobot no, not hard (unless I’m doing something wrong), but it is a bit different in input. For example, it completes your sentences rather than having a back and forth interaction like in chatGPT. I wish huggingface had made an equivalent model, but the output truly is vastly different in value. ChatGPT takes this one :/

@augmentedrobot I've had a hard time generating valuable output from it, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. Has it worked fine for you?

@thelinuxcast "play stupid games, win stupid prices" lol

@mousey As do I, I just can't help but think that a big reason people seek connection in online spaces is to connect by and through a shared interest and "meet" people they wouldn't have otherwise. For example, yeah, you may have your social circle and for some that may be enough, but for others, not having a social circle in the first place is why they use social media, so a place where they feel as included as everyone else in the group, could be really important.

Is running your own mastodon instance conducive to promoting a decentralized version of social media? If so, does this come at the expense of community? Apart from the technical barrier it would require for all individuals to run personal instances, if we are to universalize this idea, I struggle with the tension this creates with promoting community, which is, in my mind, one of the primary objectives of social media. #smallweb

@aral

We've been here lol

@_jfeldman @pluralistic @frameworkcomputer

I just changed to linux (fedora) from 10 years of using Mac for mostly the same reasons and I can't begin tell you how much more I enjoy it. As others have pointed out, using the browser version of O365 works fine, if you absolutely need to use them, but I've been using OnlyOffice and it's actually way more pleasant to use (and less buggy) than the MS Office suite.

@brandont Joplin's interface seems to come up a bit short and is missing some functions that would be useful to me, like layered note files. The plugins system also could use some work. The synchronization is nice, but I have it on an S3 bucket and no matter how often you have it update, the requests it sends to synchronize end up coming out to more than it needs to for the amount of data (currently, ~$5/month). The coding function that lets you specify the language is actually really nice, tho

@brandont Interesting. I'm considering going from Joplin to Obsidian

@molly0xfff just waiting for AOC and Pressley

@Papa He's like an incompetent but nonetheless equally morally bankrupt private equity manager

@brandont What's the advantage over a default terminal, if you don't mind me asking?

2022-12-07

@joelving What kind of steps can we take to get there?

2022-12-01

This person probably waited until it was after midnight for them before posting. Love the commitment.

I love ppl commenting on Tensorflow github issues of no support for python 3.11 as if it's a month after a hurricane and they still don't have potable water.

Finals week always makes me feel like I'm constantly on the verge of crying. I'm so tired

2022-11-23

@Haley_Sanderson_092018 That's what I keep telling myself. Onward and upward!

2022-11-23

Would it be hubris or naivete to buy a 2021 thinkpad that is bios-locked for less than $100 with the assumption I'll figure it out?
