I quit on college football this year, but it’s too tough not to watch your two favorite teams play for the title. Until you’re reminded just how many commercials there are. Back to soccer.

It seems like every week the local news is excited to announce the latest chain store opening up their first outlet here. While they also publicize openings for a locally owned, new business, it doesn't get the same traction. Why? We're not a city of transplants, badly missing their favorite fast food or convenience store, so why is it that we care so much?
