🎉 Congratulations to @boas_pucker on receiving the FAIR Data and Software Award for the bHLH_annotator!
A great example of FAIR, well-documented research software in practice.

Beyond the award itself, we value how consistently RDM and Open Science are integrated into everyday research practice: from publishing datasets in bonndata, to sharing results via preprints, and recently introducing RSpace for lab documentation.

Doing similar things in your research? We’d love to hear about it 🌱

This month it’s Rights Retention 🖋️

Rights retention means that authors keep certain reuse rights when publishing, allowing them to share their work in a repository, use it in teaching or make it publicly accessible.

Organisations like cOAlition S and SPARC Europe actively promote rights retention strategies.

On the right, the text reads: “A policy that lets authors apply an open licence (usually CC BY) to their Author Accepted Manuscript before signing a publisher contract.” The Open Access logo appears at the bottom right.

The Service Centers Open Access and Research Data are at the Welcome Event for Doctoral Students organised by the Argelander Program @unibonn for Early-Career Researchers. We are looking forward to introduce our services and tools.

Some datasets abroad are now at risk of deletion or manipulation. That can hit research here hard.
Know at-risk datasets relevant to @unibonn? NRW offers already a safety net and even large datasets can be republished in state infrastructures. The new DFG call (2025–2027) provides extra funding to secure endangered data.
