yes, this is currently happening with CPC, SEO and other marketing tactics. but i think this could lead to a super slippery slope of censorship, where company ABC doesn't want you to know or get results that contain company XYZ.

just a thought -- the more i learn about the dead internet theory, the more i realize that we're actively swimming in a shrinking pool. i think search engine results will be based on what data AI scoops up for you from their "assigned bag." that meaning AI can only provide results from granted access areas.
