@ajroach42 In the PWHL, I'm with the Minnesota Frost but I might change that to Seattle now that they have a team. AFL football, Adelaide Crows, but it's not because of anything in particular. Cricket, West Indies, Perth Scorchers, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and my feelings on England flip-flop.

@koosli @ajroach42 @stibbons Oh are they now? They had some disastrously unwatchably bad seasons and I stopped following closely, and then my partners got really into a bunch of other sports and following stuff as a family got really important to me.

I *did* try to get ARD on New Ellijay TV, but there were too many questions about rights-to-likeness at the time.

@b4ux1t3 @ajroach42 I know a guy who's kid plays it in north Georgia. Apparently the GAA, the governing body of the sport, has been trying to establish it here.
It's a great sport. Absolutely mad. An equal mix of hockey and lacrosse with some soccer and football scoring rules.
And I hear ties in the championship game aren't settled by overtime...they're settled by repeating the game next week.
@ajroach42 @emma The PWHL, which is the premier women's hockey league, is free to watch on Youtube. Their season just concluded, so it'll be like 6 months before it's back on live. But I recommend it highly. I prefer it to NHL hockey for a lot of reasons.

@ajroach42 @Charles I mostly follow the national teams, and within that it's usually West Indies (I used to live near Miami and there are a lot of Caribbeans there). That does mean I'm largely waiting for better days. In the Australian Big Bash, it's the Perth Scorchers. In the IPL, it's Royal Challengers Bengaluru. No major reason; I just know people in those places and you gotta pick a side. But really, cricket is most fun to me when there's a big test on and I have all day in the pub.
@ajroach42 Outside of baseball and PWHL hockey, I follow cricket and my whole family follows Formula E racing. Formula E was our gateway drug to motor sport. The races are fairly short and the fact that the drivers have to regenerate energy through strategic driving makes it a chess match.
In addition to that, we love to make a sleepover out of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It's fun because it's just all kinda...there... while you go about things, but a broken bolt can end a car at any time.

It takes great skill to produce a cool new graphics effect. It takes great wisdom to dial it down a bit.

As for the themes, I mention it more because young people are now very culturally aware of ecology and learn at least something about jihad in the average social studies class.
But, it is a *great* book to use as a discussion starter with a precocious kid. "So, what has happened in Dune lately?" will likely spark a lot of conversations. It's also a great one to read together "family book club" style.
