These big tech companies really just need to get in the bin. Easiest way to tell there’s no competition in their markets: they pull absolute nonsense like this with a straight face.

@madpilot yeah that was a good one as well! I think I missed that when it first came out and only played it relatively recently.
@madpilot it’s a classic. I played the original back when it was on two CDs. Not sure how well all these games hold up mechanics wise but they were so good back in the day. Sam and Max hit the road was maybe my favourite
@madpilot don’t forget Grim Fandango
👨🏻💻 Take this gift card, but beware, it carries a terrible curse.
That’s bad!
👨🏻💻 But, it comes with a free frogurt!
@stephenrobles having worked with Apple since the first version of the App Store launched, I can confidently say their view of Android, Windows, etc is "these exist when it's convenient for us that they exist, and they are dead to us when it even remotely harms our business".
My guess is Android Transfer exists because they are feeling government pressure for it to. And Google's on board because they feel the same pressure. I don't take it as a positive or that Apple has changed.
I'm glad Apple make a password manager if it means more people use one. No way in hell I'd ever use it, but actually genuinely glad it exists.
As to why: I just don't think their incentives align with mine. Not saying they are evil, but I don't need my password manager to come from a company that won't even let you mention Android or Windows exist in your app release notes. I'd prefer to get one from a company whose business depends on making a good cross platform password manager.
@stroughtonsmith 2 was on sale on steam for $7. I kinda liked 1, so I tried it but it felt a bit empty and soulless. If you want a real left of field recommendation: The Last Caretaker

@michaelmathy yeah I backed up all my photos this year for the same reason
"Let us be the repository of your passkeys" and "We may terminate your account at any time and permanently refuse to communicate with you" ... seems like a bad combination?
I still have nightmares about the Google Cast iOS library. Literally the worst third party library I have ever used in my entire life. It swizzles its way into your app startup among other things.
If I ever made another podcast app I'd try to reverse engineer the standard, but I'd never, ever, ever touch that library again. The Android version seems fine though, so for once, I support Apple here 🤣

"The system, which we built 100% ourselves is un-knowable to us and there's nothing we can do". (paraphrasing, obviously). Extremely poor form Apple. Be better. Do better.

@mattiem 🤣
Needed a way to select all the photos from a Google Photos search result (long story). Couldn't find anything good, so I wrote some apple and java script that auto-scrolls the browser window and selects all the items. It's just slowly scrolling away in the background by itself.
Is this AI? The computer is using itself! 🙃
