I'm sorry I usually try not to be annoying about things, but this is one of the few hills I will absolutely die on. I think if you expect every work of art to be completely 100% "original" you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how art works.
Hobbyist webdev and artist.

I love you transformative/derivative art. I love you remixes/samples/interpolations. I love you traced/recolor OCs. I love you software forks. I love you fan art/fiction/edits. I love you media archivists. I love you public libraries. I love you creative commons. <3
I'm joining the war on intellectual property infringement on the side of IP infringement.
@Moosader secret evil fifth option: sometimes I pronounce it like "blah-tro".
I'm sure some asshole will call me "anti-intellectual" for this, but I truly do believe that critical thinking and booksmarts will never be an adequate replacement for empathy and emotional intelligence, ever.
You can not "erm actually โ๏ธ๐ค " your way out of every problem. You are not a robot. Let yourself have emotions.
@SteveFaulkner It's good! By alerts, I meant it alerting me of errors. I probably wouldn't have ever known these things were broken or how to fix them if I hadn't seen your post!
@emsquared Yeah, I completely understand why it's popular with people and fedi isn't. I guess I mean it more in a technological way. I keep seeing these articles talking about it like it's some new major advance in computer science or something, or about how "Musk-proof" the site is. Being able to partially self-host it is kinda cool though.
@SteveFaulkner Thanks for sharing! It's giving me alerts for things that WAVE and axe DevTools weren't picking up before.

I was considering making an account there for a minute, but honestly I don't really want to deal with *another* social media app and also the people on there don't seem like they'd be interested in the type of stuff I post anyway.
Also, they keep talking about it being "decentralized", but from what I can tell, there's only one site and one mod team for the whole thing. I know you can make your username your own custom domain name if you own one, but I don't understand how that makes it "decentralized".
Maybe this isn't fair because I've never used the site proper, but I don't really understand all the hype around blusky? It just seems like twitter 2.0?
Everyone keeps talking about it being some huge big leap for technology but from what I can tell that's just bc it's open-source and has it's own protocol... don't those things also apply to the fediverse/ActivityPub? Why aren't people praising fedi then? I'm so confused.
I had a dream the other night that indieweb.social banned me for "making too many off-topic posts". I was forced to move to an instance that ran some weird fedi software I never heard of and it had a custom layout that looked like shit. All the users kept arguing with each other for some reason and I hated it.
I miss lolcats. One of my earlier, positive internet memories is being in elementary school and visiting my friend's house and her dad letting us borrow his laptop. Literally all we did for hours was google lolcat memes and laugh our asses off. Good times.
I just realized that warrior cat clans and MLG esports teams have the same naming conventions. Fazeclan, thunderclan, etc etc.
Late is better than never right? Here's the latest edition of Scrolls! (With the usual #indieweb, #fediverse and #infosec / #cybersecurity weekly-happenin's)
