For the past… *checks notes* 12 years now, I’ve had a centre channel speaker that blocked a few centimeters of the bottom of my TV, and have always cursed anyone who doesn’t adhere to a “title safe” area (*cough*youtubers*cough*).

Today I finally got a little shelf that hangs off the top of the TV and moved the speaker there. I don’t know why I waited so long.

A 5.25” disk cleaning kit. It consists of a dummy floppy diskette and bottle of cleaning fluid. Instead of the magnetic plastic insert, the diskette contains a white felt disc. Add a few drops of the cleaning fluid—which is more or less isopropyl alcohol—to the exposed felt and run the disk in the drive for 30 seconds to remove dirt, dust, and debris from the drive’s magnetic head. Back when she worked in graphic design and smoked two packs a day, Christine cleaned her drive every month like clockwork. She was skeptical at first about these cleaning kits, but then saw how yellow and gritty the white felt disk was after the first cleaning. God, she forgot about those days. The way you could smoke at work. Nobody telling you to go outside in the rain like a second class citizen. Goddamn nanny state, Christine thinks, taking another hit from her vape pen through the stoma in her throat.
