Republicans, or Mike Lee doing a stunt?

@lunalapin yeah it's really bad.
@kelpacre yeah I did see that, which is so funny because wow if you want a problematic queer author... I mean... [gestures at Everything Andrew's Ever Done]
lmao
@irisjaycomics I mean on the up side, wow what a show huh?
@kelpacre and, you know, I think that there's something to be said about these being queer authors working out some of their own neuroses on the page. these are political works in one way or another but they're also personal works and ones that are open to our engagement and interpretation too
which is really distinct imo from a highly commercialized media empire being used very deliberately to fund large scale hate campaigns! or even from someone like Dworkin who's primarily a political writer
@kelpacre I DO give people a level of latitude with some of this stuff just because of the sheer dominance in the discourse of figures like Dworkin or Mary Daly. like, there's a line in Seeming's 20 GOTO 10 "I pray to mary daily/daly]. I don't think Alex is a TERF I think Alex is someone who has an evidently complicated relationship to gender who read popular works of feminist theory written before a certain period. it's *so frustratingly hard* to get away from it in feminist criticism lol
@kelpacre I'm really, really hesitant to start gunning for queer elders who lived through the AIDS crisis and/or were queer at a time sodomy and transvestism were criminalized. I mean, I don't think bechdel should have done that, but if we're striking things from the canon of just comics alone for problematic behavior I think there's people who'd come way ahead of her on my list. (and even then, I'm skeptical, as a trans woman, of callout culture.)
my dom: I want you to be a brat for me tonight
me, immediately taking it too far: Apocalypse Hotel is a better mecha show this season than Gquuuuuux

Hey Look At This Comic: Flying Saucer Video. the last of the Cohost reruns, I can't get away from the parallels between the story's doomed video store setting and the state of the creative internet. https://www.tumblr.com/sam-keeper/784378465643364352/hey-look-at-this-comic-flying-saucer-video?source=share

god it's so often cartoon fandom bloggers pulling this shit too. unreal embarrassing way to act towards old actually queer artists.
I find the way people will put Richard O'Brien in the same category as the Disney corporation or fucking JK Rowling, based on like ONE interview, really repulsive, frankly.
