Oh wait, folders are in alphabetical order… duh!
@tschlander So if I learn which folder there in, and their location in that folder, that’s where they’ll always be? What happens when I install a new app that gets sorted into that folder - does it get added to the end?
@tschlander That’s cool 😊 I’ve just never wrapped my head around where apps on my device are sorted to and I don’t trust that they won’t move somehow!
@alyrah Which is your favourite?
@tschlander Yes, that’s how I access apps 👍. I just meant that if Apple wants the app page, I’d rather it were a list
@tschlander @simonbs I think I’d still prefer it just to open the full list that is quick scrollable by letter. Possibly with a single row at the top of recently used or predicted apps.
@simonbs Can you trust Apple that it will stay in that position in the App Library though? I’ve never worked out how they decide what goes where and on what order 🤔
@alyrah This one specifically for the two-tone blue and sparkle texture; though I don’t recall which episode she ever wore it in, or whether it was just for publicity shots.
@lauteshirn Ditto!
@matzekult @matzekult Many folks are having the opposite reaction, but I’m leaning in your direction. It looked chaotic, grandiose in a silly way, and altogether like too much fan service wrapped in a convoluted plot. And I keep reminding myself it was just a trailer designed to ‘hype’ the show, and may play out more thoughtfully and more enjoyably (like actual TNG) than it looked. Fingers crossed!
@andisheh This is the tech insight I joined Mastodon for! 👆
@kevsmac I think either 2T or 2T-22 are the most compelling and Star Wars like
@sean I appreciate your perspective. I’m hopeful for the rumoured Captain Planet movie. If they get it right, it’s mainstream superheroism with a strong environmental message. Probably still more fantastical than I think what you’re advocating for, but it might be a first step in showing that stories centred on *actually doing something* resonate and can be successful. I’m already bracing for the internet’s cadre of anti-social justice, anti-woke, nihilistic, solipsistic a-holes complaining that it’s shoving morality down their throats 😞
@sean I guess I feel like Star Trek, though set in a utopian future of sorts, actually holds a mirror up to our present day. In its time, it’s tackled the Cold War, Vietnam War, civil rights, euthanasia, environmental themes, EDI, the meaning of life, friendship, loss, empathy, and so much more. Yes it’s set in the far future and doesn’t illustrate what’s needed in our immediate future. But it’s message, moral perspective, and hope for humanity’s better nature can absolutely guide us in the present. Which doesn’t speak against what you’re calling for. Only that I think your maligning of Star Trek is rather unfair to the show and ignores its métier
@gaghyogi49 This feels like a somehow very public place to put a toilet. Oh ho, Worf is shuffling off to ‘the corridor that shall not be named’. Guess he’s got a couple photon torpedoes in the loading bay.
"#StarTrek is too easy. A mid 21st century nuclear war is hand-waved away as the catalyst that finally got humans to cooperate globally and establish contact with galactic civilization.
Bullshit x 1,000!"

"Positive futures are cynically tarred by critics as "#utopias" meaning "no place" or "things that don't happen.""

“Stop!” The disembodied voice was clear even above the din of the Chlorofall.
The priests cowered, turning toward the cruiser and whispering what Doval assumed to be prayers under their breaths.
“Identify.” The voice rang out again.
“Doval. Lieutenant. Alan P. Corps Identifier 3262419. Clearance Omega. Shadow Ops Division.” Doval waited, wondering when was the last time the cruiser had been able to update its Corps manifest.
“Doval. Ensign. Confirm rank upgrade.”
“Confirmed. Authorisation 0012-Blackwood-alpha-99.”
“Accepted.”
A beam of light burst forth from the cruiser’s prow and hit Doval directly in his chest. As the transmat beam converted his molecules into a data stream of energy, the priests threw themselves into hysterics convulsions.
“The prophet,” they wailed, over and over. “The Prophet is come!”
