@zompus Very important question: we have a 13.5 lb frozen turkey. How many days to defrost? 😋

@indi have you hearf or seen the Estonia Eurovision entry for this year? It's fantastic and I think you would like it a lot!
@adamconover I learned this year about Resource Center of Dallas, which provides gender affirming care (in addition to other medical and mental health care for LGBTQIA+ folks) in the Dallas, TX area (one of the very few in Texas, and a much needed resource).

The University of North Texas Libraries is conducting a research study on Transgender Workplace Belonging in U.S. Libraries.
Five minute survey for people over 18 who work in a US library and identify as transgender or gender diverse.
[not my study, just sending it along to get more eyeballs on it]
I saw this earlier today but didn’t realize it was posted by Amtrak. Nice work, Amtrak. https://twitter.com/Amtrak/status/1697640473718890653 #Trains #Tågskryt

Nacho got into a little tiff with the other neighborhood cat, and he got scratched right by his right eye and also by the left ear (same spot as last time). The vet saw him and said his right eye was ok, but his other eye was being wonky, he wasn't blinking right, so they gave him steroids and he is doing much better. This cat has so many battle wounds, hard to believe a fierce predator will chill out enough to be as cute as he is here. Sweet baby.

“Hang on, I have to toothbrush the cat.”
“Don’t you mean brush the cat’s teeth?”
“I do not.”
Also the pain meds are kicking in for him so he is chatty right back, lol.
Spending tonight in the ER with my FIL for some vascular complications. The ultrasound tech is very chatty and while that is great for my FIL to keep his mind off the problems, I hate it.

Bravo, anonymous hero.
@indi cute, yes, but constantly surprising me when the scuttle across a wall like gravity is broken
less about discord and more about dis gourd because fall is right around the corner
learning French has really encouraged me to live in the moment because I currently cannot conjugate any other verb tense
@gentlyepigrams I went to the Plano HEB around 6pm and it was PACKED. Presumably because it would be cooler, as in only 96° rather than 106°. Their A/C was struggling, for sure.
@indi we had 2 guests that made me think of you. Interwebs tells me these might be mediterranean house geckos?
@meraord We bought a Whirlpool top loader (plus dryer) about 2 years ago. I wanted to go with Whirlpool bc I had heard bad things about Samsung (repair people will not repair them bc parts and labor are time- and cost-prohibitive). We needed a fridge as well, so we got a good deal on a 3-piece package (washer, dryer, fridge). I have been happy with them. Washer just broke today, service tech came out and a sensor looks to have gone bad, but the parts can be replaced, and the parts are available and not labor intensive.
The harder choice for us was where to buy from. We looked at local appliance places, but in the end the best price and best service contract was Best Buy. The Geek Squad protection plan we got at the time was $90 for 3 years. I called them this morning for the broken washer, and they got someone out this afternoon, he diagnosed the problem, ordered replacement parts, and will ship parts to our house and come back to install. Parts and labor are covered by the plan.
