Just some guy hoping to reduce risk, avoid liability, and not take things too seriously while we do it. I mostly talk or read about Security Engineering and Homebrewing. Tha Ghàidhlig glè beagan agam ach tha mi ag ionnsachadh.

At best my own thoughts, totes not employers. (he/him/e/esan)

We are probably going to need this sign today, unfortunately #NoKings

Cardboard sign held by a masked person features text: "Judging a demonstration by its most violent participants but NOT judging a police force by its most violent cops is the language of the oppressor." Two raised fists are drawn on it. Nearby people stand outdoors.

@gunchleoc @clamhan Aye, here's hoping.

@clamhan @gunchleoc Considering who _usually_ stands to profit from AI, I don't think you're being reactionary at all. Hell, AI is so prevalent in my field that avoiding it is a competitive disadvantage. And I still side-eye the hell out of the tech...while using it things are mundane as job descriptions.

If done with the right intentions, with care, and for the right reasons I think it could be a godssend. A way to increase literacy and opportunity.

On my own learning journey, _you people_ are my Gàidhlig community. Y'all are great, but it only goes so far. I struggle, hard, with hearing the sounds and translating them into words. Subs would do wonders for someone like me.

Washington State Park created this playlist for those people:

Spotify playlist “Songs people on the trail want to hear from your Bluetooth speaker” the joke being that the playlist is empty.

@mactunag Super fair. Avoiding Oracle is always a good choice. I'm surprised at how little they've forked with the product since acquiring Sun. But...... Oracle.

VMware is a fantastic hypervisor, but the licensing is garbage. Personally I use ProxMox, but the learning curve is pretty steep.

@mactunag I almost never use the "default directory" for VirtualBox, so the clone failure is likely something deeper. Like maybe you have a dangling snapshot or the vhd has gotten corrupted.

IIRC, PopOS is a Debian spin just like Ubuntu. If so then Boxes should be available. It's a virtualization tool, like VBox, but is based on libvirt which is what KVM is based on. It's a little more reliable for constant workloads.

@wannabemystiker The airlock was mostly just because I wanted to cover it, but don't have a solid lid for that jar. In retrospect, I probably could have just thrown a towel over it.

Right now it's basically just tea, flower petals and water. Tomorrow night I'll be adding sugar, yeast, and orange peel.

@TTFKA_Tay0 This is kind of a fascinating concept. Have you done any wild yeast collection?

I've seen instructions on harvesting wild yeast from juniper berries and whatnot. I haven't yet but the idea is intoxicating.

@mactunag There was some vocabulary that I missed. But shockingly I followed along well enough to get it!

Is this a VM that you just turn on when you need it or is it running all the time? I'll be working in the garden a lot this weekend (gotta raise and level a flagstone walking path). My brain will be free for noodling.
