Is there a better app for #Pixelfed than the official one on Android, because it's really awful.
Got the EufyMake E1 UV printer working this evening thanks to the firmware it needed magically appearing this morning. And... It's really fun. Just printing some magnets with the kids' art on them as tests (and a stock dragon pic), but been just doing it through the phone app which, after dealing with 3D printers, is impressive to me. I believe the thing will probably be cantankerous, especially with ink jams based on what I've read and seen, but right now, it seems to work perfectly.
Cos I don't deal with enough weird shit, I discovered a possum has apparently taken a liking to the Coke I keep on the back porch. For the last few days, I've been finding leaking cans and leaked soda on the porch floor. The cans have little bite marks in them, so I checked the camera and sure enough, the rather round bastard is there.
So far my experience with the EufyMake UV printer is amazingly poor. I can't get past the initial calibration to even try the damn thing because it demands a firmware update to finish the setup, but then tells me said update is not actually available. Also, the ink really smells and one of the brand new, previously unopened ink cartridges was "expired" according to the printer.
I was today years old when I learned that Sesame Street's the Count's full name is actually Count von Count.
@alice As a parent, if I still talked to other parents and met one that gave this to their kid, I would then stop talking to them and feel bad for their child. It's maddening that we live in a society where shit that mimics human emotions and interest can fuck up our kids even more than they already are.
This is like an April's Fool gag that somehow got made...Possibly the most absurd piece of frivolous tech I've seen in a bit. It cost $110 and I can't imagine who the hell would want this.
iRobot just filed for bankruptcy, partially thanks to the idiotic tariffs going on, but it's just the latest of the flood of smart device makers going under. I doubt Roombas will suddenly become expensive doorstops in the near future, but it's really hard to trust that any tech product is particularly safe from this kind of crap.

Well, my Wrapstadon was incredibly underwhelming. I am clearly not popular and cool enough.

Due to have a potentially substantial snow storm today, but the new TV arrived so so long as the power doesn't go out, I'll be occupied and toasty this weekend. One thing I don't like about this LG OLED is how damn thin it is. It feels fragile and this makes it hard to comfortably lift and move around, because it feels as if it could snap like a cracker. I really prefer some girth to my TVs. Just moving it from the dining table after putting the base on to the living room stand was stressful.
As I suspected would happen, I have done killed Excel dead.
I hate Excel. That is all.
Ok, no, dealing with a massive annoying spreadsheet that won't import into the db so I could just SQL around with it, so having to do shit like vlookups for 800,000 rows is maddening and probably entirely unfeasible. Sadly, I am not an Excel or SQL guru, so if there's a more reasonable way to go about this, I haven't found it yet.
Ugh. Metroid Prime 4 has back-to-back boss (or boss-ish) battles, which is a thing I really hate. It also seems to have a lot of really long swaths of long corridor-type sections, which isn't great, but on the whole it's been gorgeous and interesting so far.
Doing annual security training and one of the suggestions was to take the battery out of your cell phone during sensitive meetings...
On a related note, rack CD players are absurdly expensive now.
For a product type with a limited amount of choices, shopping for a 4K Blu-ray player is surprisingly complicated. It seems that unless you want to go over a grand that all roads still lead to the Panasonic UB820, which isn't cheap either, but supports all HDR formats. $500 is a lot to pay for what will essentially be a single purpose tool, so I doubt I'll be pulling the trigger on this one soon.
