@mirek @gytisrepecka one of the options I'm considering is an instance with 12 users. I'm afraid it'd be essentially the same.

@archos ještě si říkám: mám 2,5 tisíce followerů na desítkách instancí. Nebude to pro vás příliš velká zátěž? Samozřejmě na provoz bych přispíval, ale větší instance jako mastodonczech.cz by takového heavy usera asi víc unesla.

@archos Pro mě byla poslední kapka, když zablokovali Fotovoltaiku, protože si udělala bridge do Bluesky. Tyhle svaté války už mě nebaví.
Pokud někomu vadí Bluesky, Threads apod, ať si to zablokuje, ale nechci ztrácet kontakty kvůli takovým věcem.
Navíc v tom není žádná transparentnost, nepřijde žádné upozornění, kontakt prostě zmizí. Důvody můžeš jenom hádat.

@archos Je to jedna z možností, kterou zvažuji. Nechci být na moc velké instanci a zároveň se ale bojím, že ty malé jsou zase "too easy to block". Budu to muset nějak vyšpekulovat.

After 3.5 years on the current instance, I think I'm ready to move on. I've lost too many good contacts due to instance blocking.

Any recommendations where to go? I mostly post in English, but occasionally in Czech. I appreciate if the instance blocks spam and clearly abusive instances, but otherwise I'd like to rely on my judgment who to block.

BTW Bubblewrap wouldn't have been created without Flatpak in the first place. It was founded by Alex to facilitate sandboxing needs of Flatpak, of course it has the features. XDG portals wouldn't exist without Flatpak either.

@jwildeboer It could be seen as a good thing by us, seasoned Fediverse users, but it will never be seen as a good thing by ordinary users simply because it's not good experience. They just wanna be in touch with friends. Your friend suddenly disappears because they happen to be on an instance that violated something. There is no transparency, no obvious way to appeal. The friend is just gone.

@jwildeboer what do you think of instances that block other instances just because they don't block Threads? That seems like the point where the Fediverse really disintegrates.

@monk @cassidy with chroot do you get stable interfaces the app can use to safely interact with the host? I think you underestimate how much effort has been put into it in this regard.
Also what is a proper packaging? A statically linked binary shipped in deb/rpm? Because that's the alternative for such projects.
