@kristoffer @obrhoff Yep. It leads to feed bloat. Once your feed becomes unwieldy you stop looking at it, or you only skim it. It's better to build a very intentional, highly curated feed that you enjoy and prune it along the way. Rather than just dumping hundreds of follows in there and trying to figure out what is good and what isn't. You could argue that what you've built is hardly a "social graph" if the "followers" you've gained aren't looking at what you post anyways because they've junked up their non algo-timeline to such a degree that they default to their algorithmic timeline which will never feed them your posts.
