I've started tracking my diet to get a sense of my macros and damn are estimates of volume measures inaccurate. The density of foods varies so much by preparation and composition. What are we doing with cups and tablespoons and decks of cards.

I will tell you what they are doing. They are chatting with each other on video calls about the weather and their weekend plans. They call these "meetings," and their favorite thing to do is pat each other on the back over being in these "meetings" back to back all day.
Can't express how demoralizing it is holding people's hands through the most basic of tasks while they have a salary, sick leave, paid vacation, and healthcare and I am a contractor making $20/hour for a predatory staffing agency charging the client 3x as much for my labor and pocketing the difference. These people are making spreadsheets and sending emails, but they can't reset their own passwords? They can't wrap their minds around MFA? What are they doing all day?
And now I have a way to use up the rest of the swai filets in the chest freezer I've been holding on to for like a year. I just hadn't found a cooking method with the right ratio of effort to tastiness yet.
Tonight I had blackened fish tacos with shredded cabbage and carrot with lime and a little bit of kewpie mayo. One of the better things I've made in a while.
I am currently arguing with my lib friend about us policy in xinjiang. I linked him this report, which ofc he didn't read because he assumes it's biased (why is the washington post citing adrian zenz citing the washington post "neutral" and a meticulously sourced comprehensive report from Chinese communists in diaspora "biased"? We all know why).
Anyway since he won't actually read it, I summarized some of the info about the USA's attempts to manufacture consent for a proxy war in Xinjiang. He asked for "well known and reliable" sources for those claims, and I have to admit it felt pretty good to link him western sources for every claim directly from the biased report he won't read. Lol.

@georgespolitzer you were absolutely right to say it!
@georgespolitzer sidenote ever since you said star trek is just people talking in hallways I started noticing it and I always think of you. Where you're wrong though is sometimes they're talking in an elevator instead.
Geordi la forge would absolutely be nofap
I've been in a moderate amount of pain and moderate to severe fatigue consistently for a while now. I'm more careful about gluten than most normal people would consider reasonable and I'm still sick. I've thrown away food that was labeled gluten free because it was the only change in my diet it could possibly be. Gluten free may not be enough anymore I may need to only buy third party certified gluten free from now on. I'm so tired.
@zorotl one of the things that has made me less sympathetic to anarchists over time is noticing how a lot of their ideas are indistinguishable from libertarianism.
I don’t want to be chewing forever on fluffy shredded lettuce BS it’s a waste of my time.
Cabbage is everything lettuce wishes it could be
✅ - Keeps in the fridge for weeks
✅ - High in fiber
✅ - Great raw or cooked
✅ - Dense
✅ - Fuck lettuce
I am dealing with severe fatigue and gut pain today. I think it’s gluten exposure and I’m pretty sure what caused it. I’m just trying to keep eating through it. If I get too hungry, I’ll be more tired and more foggy, which will make going to sleep a lot harder. If I don’t sleep, tomorrow will be worse. I hate how it snowballs.
@ray anecdotally I associate the time when “Am I happy?” stopped being a relevant question to me with when things started turning around in my life. I basically came to the conclusion that the small pleasures were enough for me to keep going despite how much I hated everything else about my life.
@lunchgirl thank you!
I have a raspberry pi laying around and I’d like to build a media server with it. I’m starting to get overwhelmed with info so I figured maybe some of you nerds might be interested in teaching me.
Here’s what I’d like to do with the server:
-automate torrenting stuff and store it on an external drive
-watch stuff locally and also set up port forwarding safely to watch remotely
-set up a DNS server for ad blocking and an email server maybe I don’t know the sky’s the limit
Here’s what I think I need to accomplish that with the searching I’ve done so far:
-Docker to set up containers for each thing
-Wireguard to set up a secure tunnel for remote use
-Jellyfin for media hosting
-qbittorent, radarr/sonarr, VPN for torrenting
I have no experience with Linux, scripting, or setting up environments, but I’d like to learn more and I consider this my opportunity. Am I on the right track? Where can I go to learn about writing docker compose files for a complete beginner?
@zorotl never heard of koons so I googled him and look what I found lmao
@josie honestly who decided parents were qualified to teach their kids time management. If applying what you learned was incorporated into the school day, kids would be more prepared for college when you’re more or less on your own.
His boss was a white south african who would sometimes chat with my coworkers because our cubicles were right outside his office. One time in a casual conversation he was like “when I was a boy in south africa I hit my brother in the head with an ice pick. You know how boys will be boys.” He also liked to reminisce about racing luxury cars. He spoke with an afrikaans accent. He had a malevolent energy for sure.
