"Trump's media org stole Mastodon's software code"
I wonder just how many trans, queer, neurodivergent, non-white, people contributed to that code? I would think likely the majority of people.

@burnoutqueen@todon.nl I would suggest "Evil" is a symbolic term, more used to contrast 'Good', and used metaphorically - in that mythological sense of Good v's Evil, Light v's dark, etc - like an eternal tug-of-war of human consciousness (which manifests into world events).

For me personally, I only see two types of people - those that lean to the selfish, or those that lean to the selfless - by degree. And so the difference between Good and Evil for me, is symbolic of the difference between selfless and the selfish.

To take this further. Once the degree of selfishness moves into actions that knowingly or intentionally hurt others. You could consider that a (symbolic) "Evil" action - thus, consider the person responsible for the action as "Evil".

At least, that's how I see things anyway. Take care

Disney style suits, Santa outfits, Mr Blobby, etc.

@ddlyh@topspicy.social I don't think I ever played that one, so I don't know the character. Though there's probably a lot of other things of a similar idea. I'm mentioning this anyway because of that new TV show Murderbot, which is a similar-ish premise, with a character autistic people are identifying with. I grew up in my young teens reading a lot of Philip K Dick books as well - so that's been an influence (and probably where I've stolen everything from) โ€‹:freaky_1:โ€‹

Just over a decade and a half ago, I created a character called Evil Death Robot. It 's back story is that it was built to be an assassin AI robot, but rolled off the assembly line with a conscience. It had empathy that it had to try and hide from it's evil masters. But, It was still considered defected, and ended up being locked in a store room.

When I created this character, it was before I knew that I am autistic, but in retrospect, I can see that is what I'm basing it on. It's that notion of being outcast for having feelings and not actually being inside what everyone on the outside expects you to be. A notion that also goes far beyond just autism, when being outcast for who you are.

This artwork was created in 2009, when I was in an experimental phase of using photography in the artwork to create the base texture of elements. I did stop doing it like that though.

A textured digital artwork cartoon style image. Inside a small concrete room. There is junk piled up, with cardboard boxes, a broken TV, broken robot pieces and a gardening tool propped against the wall. There is a small window with rusty metal bars allowing light to enter. Just in front of the window stands a robot with a square body and head connected with thin metal arms and legs. At the end of it's arms are guns for hands. The robot stands there looking sad, with its head bowed, and its gun hands against it's head.

@meljoann@topspicy.social Yeah, I learn't then that there is a 'TV' Irish accent, which is how everyone else thinks all Irish people speak. But then there's 3 British English 'TV' accents too - which would be the King's English, Cockney, and Northern. Then American 'TV' English comes in 3 flavours too - Californian, Southern, and New Yorker. I spent some time in America also, and the same sort of thing happened too with communicating in non 'TV' "exported" accents.

@meljoann@topspicy.social I'm English, and a long time ago now, I traveled across Ireland for charity events doing fire walking and fire breathing etc.. One thing that I hadn't anticipated was the difficulty in communicating within the same language. With strong regional dialects, the Irish accent just sounded like noises to me, and my English accent must have sounded the same to them. It seemed that the clearer we tried to speak, the more English I became, and the more Irish they became, making it even harder.

I would like to give a big HUG โ€‹:lightblueheartx:โ€‹ to everyone that is out at a #protest for #nokings

This is so important, not just for America, but for the rest of the world also - as where the USA leans next moving forward, will tip the scale of the whole world's fate.

So,
thank you โ€‹:cute_pink_heartx:โ€‹

We are all in this together, even if we can't all be there with you. But for those of you that are there - GOOD LUCK! and BE SAFE!

@MalcolmNance@defenseofliberty.social I'm not in America, and tried to watch live coverage, which happened to be Fox. I can understand why everyone hates Fox. I had to turn it off, because they were trying to make out that the protest are "paid for" - because, apparently... the signs looked "too professional" and "not sprawled in pen on the kitchen table". I mean.. like... doesn't everyone have access to a laptop, graphics software, and a printer these days?

@that_other_place@mementomori.social I came across Sly & The Family Stone when I was 16, from an old beaten up vinyl of the Woodstock set. Me and my friendship group were all alternative rock and punk, but I found myself finding secret loves of older music in various completely different genres, which I kept to myself. Sly was one of these loves, and I learned so much more from those records... R.I.P The King of the groove.

@TheBreadmonkey@beige.party Being judgmental is actually apart of the human experience though, which is something to consider. It is how our brains work, by mapping associations, which is how we are able to understand the world around ourselves and actually function within it. People are supposed to learn and grow with experience though, even if many don't. If there is a meaning of life, I would strongly suspect that evolving is a very big part of that. The fact that you can look back and reflect, seeing that you have grown and evolved, has to be a good thing. As again, many don't really grow that much.

@DaveB_Shrews@mstdn.social I remember once as a kid, they were selling these cheap at the corner shop. So me and my sister bought some, took them home and just sat eating them in front of the TV. My Dad came home, saw us, and just went mad! He took them off us, and we had to sit in silence listening to a lecture about smoking. Then at then end, we asked if we could have our sweets back. He just looked all confused, like, "what?... oh...". He gave us them back and it was never mentioned again.

Me being autistic and misunderstanding context - missing the joke - I answered seriously and all defensively saying no and shaking my head nervously - which was followed by the most awkward silence moment with the guy just looking at me....

Happy 30th birthday to . I wrote a history of it several years ago: โ€œIf CGI scripts were the start of interactive programming on the web, then PHP was the natural next step โ€” at least on the server-side. Just a month after Brendan Eich created the JavaScript scripting language at Netscape, an independent developer from Canada named Rasmus Lerdorf released the first version of a toolset he called Personal Home Page Tools (PHP Tools).โ€ cybercultural.com/p/1995-php-q

@benjaminV @midtsveen I was telling people that FOSS was an anarchistic movement in the 1990's and nobody believed me. "But how can it be when you have project leaders?" or "someone has to be in charge", yet it's proved very hard to make contributors keep on contributing when the "leader" starts doing things the contributors don't like - so they then fork the project and coalesce around a different "leader". For example OpenOffice -> LibreOffice and MySQL -> MariaDB. It's happened countless times - a fine example of having rules, but opting out of them if they no longer suit you, making rules collaboratively, and discarding leaders who have become too big for their boots.

The high profile meltdown is designed to manipulate non-dialectical thought - those with an inability to hold opposing truths simultaneously.

Both are attempting to force the global population to choose a side but the secret is - both sides are bad.

This is an image of dialectical thought - multiple truths existing simultaneously.

People who cannot engage in dialectical thought will create a reality for themselves where only one truth can exist, the other one ceases to exist.

This manipulation is how the holocaust was created.

Am image depicting dialectical thought, there are three 2D images of concentric circles, from three different angles causing them to not look alike. Each one is labelled "truth".
