If Apple is now happy to start building in third-party interfaces to existing LLMs, the smartest thing they could do is provide built-in OpenAI APIs that abstract the monetization & authentication aspect completely away from developers. If a user is logged in to OpenAI at the OS level, the API should just work in any app

Tried to display a SpriteKit scene in the content view of NSApplication.shared.dockTile, but it doesn't render.

I like the possibilities macOS offers over iOS, but I'm starting to feel its shortcomings. Just let me do silly things 😔

I had a fun app idea that involved replacing the Trash with my app in the Dock.

Bummed to discover that there's no way to hide Trash from the Dock on macOS.

Time to transfer for fermentation. It should be ready in about four weeks 🍺🤞

I try to keep tech away from several of my hobbies. For example, I deliberately didn’t buy a smart Bluetooth-enabled espresso machine.

But when I bought my beer brewing setup a couple of years ago, I chose the smart Grainfather G30, and I’m glad I did. The app lets me program the brew so the equipment automatically manages temperature and notifies me when to add malt, hops, and sparge water. It’s a great help on a busy brew day.

Screenshot of the Grainfather app showing a temperature graph along with a target and current temperature of 65 degrees Celsius.

The app also shows the steps in the brew, so the the current step being mash step 1.

Today is brew day! Today’s brew is a German-style Hefeweizen 🍺

“Suck it up and compete” needs to be Apple’s new motto.

It would lead to better products. The joke that is Apple Intelligence would never have shipped if they actually allowed real competition on the platform. Apple only gets away with shipping that embarrassing mess because users barely have any choice.

Did anyone get masks working reliably with OpenAI's Image Generation API when using the gpt-image-1 model?

I'm seeing the model making significant modifications to the image even outside the mask, as shown in the image.

Am I doing something wrong?

(Yes, my mask is transparent)

Apple Intelligence strikes again. That feature is utterly broken, and it's fucking embarrassing that Apple shipped it.

Hey Apple. Sort your fucking house out. I just got a notification summary that ‘Dad had another stroke’ when he hadn’t (he’s had a stroke before so there was a small reference in the message).
Naturally I shit my pants and tapped on the message straight away so wasn’t able to get a screen grab.

Waterfield Designs' magnetic case looks amazing! I'd definitely get that if I hadn't missed out on the pre-orders. I think I'll prioritize having a bag on day 1, so I can travel with it immediately. sfbags.com/collections/cases-f

@stuart Yeah, it looks like very slick but I seem to have missed out on the preorders. In that case I’ll probably just get the official one, so I can travel with it from day 1.
