@jasonsantamaria @db Thank you! Yes, someone called that out to me a while back so it should be fixed now.
Custom letterer. Used to be a graphic designer.

@db Thank you! Apologies for not replying sooner - I'm not on here much these days. I'm off Twitter/X but can still barely keep up with Bluesky and Threads...
@mass_driver Haha yes
I don’t design fonts for the money. I do it so I can say things like “oh my god, you don’t know what a stress axis is?”
Lettering for my wife’s ( https://instagram.com/blackcoffeewithwhitefriends?igshid=Y2I2MzMwZWM3ZA== ) new Instagram account ( https://instagram.com/blackeyedstories?igshid=Y2I2MzMwZWM3ZA== ) in support of her Substack page https://blackeyedstories.substack.com
@asibahi Haha no, thank goodness.
Actual client email: “It’s so great how you’ve spent years honing your craft and learning all the rules of design and whatnot. Anyway, go ahead and ignore all that stuff and do another version just like the last one but worse.”
My new font, Saveloy, is now available ✌🏻🖤

A big part of success in this industry is maintaining good routines. For example, whenever a client call gets canceled, my wife and I immediately Vogue to “What Is Love” by Haddaway.
@tulseytype You’re hired!
@Kern Left!
A student asked me recently if they could be my intern, and I was like “well I can’t pay you anything, but the work will be practically nonexistent.”
When I finish a new font, I celebrate like most people do: by ignoring client emails for the rest of the day and taking a nap and then blaming the inevitable guilt I feel on childhood trauma.
Looking forward to the day I get to hear my grandkids say “tell us the story about the time you almost released a font with an inverted cedilla, Grandad!”
One of the genuinely cool things about my job is getting an email from a fan who’s loved and admired my work for years and who finally has a project to work on with me and then getting ghosted by them when I tell them how much it costs.
To most, working from home means professional autonomy and making your own schedule. To me, it means being able to run out of the bathroom in my underwear to sketch an idea at my desk and not be told I’m being “inappropriate”.
I’ve heard it said that type designers can be eccentric and old fashioned, to which I say poppycock!
I don’t always listen to jazz when I make fonts, but when I do, my kid usually walks in and says “umm, can we not?”
@patc Let's not rush into anything Pat.
@iorsh Wouldn't be at all surprised. Fonts are very, very sexy.
