yeah good luck trying to explain 'I disconnected from them because I don't believe they will stop hurting me'. People around you will go on and on and on about how you should believe in people and you didn't try hard enough. "I'm sure they didn't mean to" and "They are just repeating something they heard"
yes no one is responsible, no one should face consequences. Only the hurt person should adjust... gimme a break seriously?

@StaceyHolleran Ty heaps! It took a while, but am back even :)

2024-11-03

I think I’m well enough to be back! It’s been a long time !

2023-01-16

I haven’t forgotten you any! I promise! Recovered from sick only to break a wisdom tooth! Is not fun! Much love x

Still sick as anything but while I’m out of bed, wishing you all a very merry Christmas! 💖😘

2022-12-22

Just the quickest of notes that I’m not meaning to be rude, struck down with sickness and trying to organise Christmas isn’t very fun for me, promise I’ll be back to reply as soon as I can 💖

@eniko when you’re an artist, your audience is your community, so no one should be hassling anyone?!

@yudel @bkeegan @lemay well, at least after Bitcoin was worth more than $1..

@bkeegan @lemay I never met anyone who has lived through Usenet and then RSS who failed to see through the crypto hype.

@bkeegan Though the 4chan-like sections of the Fediverse *exist*. Don’t also underestimate the power of moderation and especially the power of labor. I think that’s the other lesson in this. Social media spent decades thinking labor didn’t “scale” and trying to replace labor with technology. The Fediverse remembered that decentralized labor scales with the network. (Just like Usenet and RSS.) The modern need is moderation tools that enhance labor efforts and not get in their way.

It’s never not going to be funny that after years of hype about crypto-metaverse-subscriptions disrupting web2 incumbents, the backstop to Twitter’s sudden implosion was volunteers recreating Usenet with RSS.

The explosion in growth for Mastodon, including among mainstream, non-tech users, is genuinely exciting. That an open-source, interoperable, nonprofit-driven protocol could reach this kind of success is incredible. The future looks bright ❤️

@atomicpoet @joelitics @mozilla @Vivaldi while this is amazing to keep them out of the Fediverse, I think Google owning Twitter is less bad than Elon owning it, even if it’s not ideal. Noted earlier that Alphabet, without its singular psycho billionaire performed similar to market average, and all the ones headed by Adolph Elon and Kim Jong ZuckerBezoz are down at least another 15% or more, possibly due to their Dear Leader..

@joelitics @mozilla @Vivaldi They would do it because ActivityPub is a W3C-backed web standard. Meanwhile, Twitter's API is proprietary and closed.

But I hope you're right and Google does buy Twitter -- just so they DON'T even try to set the agenda for the Fediverse.

@atomicpoet @mozilla mastodon client built into Mozilla browser core even, that nicely compiles natively across various platforms, with functionality that makes it feel like Tooot is an unworthy alternative sounds amaze to me!

Now @mozilla is officially building upon the Fediverse. Their foray will be an instance hosted at mozilla.social.

But I hope they go further than this:

1. Make Thunderbird a Fediverse client
2. Build in-browser Fediverse functionality
3. Support a Fediverse app ecosystem

Mozilla can do so much to further the Fediverse. Let's hope that they think big.

@ModelUki2 as the Fediverse keeps exponentially growing, the admins will be scaling their server resources as best they can, as they all usually have lives other than running these servers, if load picks up and it takes someone to wake up and have breakfast before they fix it, is really the same as at Twitter, only now you’ve got a bit of extra visibility, anyway, no stress, take your time, restarting the client often can be good too.. it’s not as polished as birdsite yet, and can have its bumps, but it’s still amazing here.. and I did and replied, if it’s slow, it’ll show up sometime, and even if it’s delayed, promise I’ll reply whenever I see it and can😁
