@rbowen I don’t think there was much about PHP that required continued learning. How much stuff was “good enough” for the person who created it but riddled with vulnerabilities or performance problems?

To be sure, I learned SQL and a slew of other stuff by fiddling with PHP, but does that say more about me as a curious user/ practitioner than it does about PHP itself?

I expect plenty of vibe coders to crank out junk that mostly works for their needs, and never look any deeper. But I’d also expect a lot of curious folks who appreciate the on-ramp to learning more in order to do more.

I don’t have the answer to my original query; but it is something about which I speculate.

@rbowen I wonder what, if any, parallels we can draw or lessons we can learn about that time and experience, and the current trend of vibe coding…

@DHS It been a long time since I played Windy Dale! As I recall, i played a Paladin as my primary character and there were some surprising journal entries that resulted from that choice. Great writing.
