they must really need those rates to come down now if they can’t wait another five months for Powell’s term to end, makes you wonder just how bad the real numbers are
If you're not regretting stepping through doors on occasion and wishing you could go back, you're not stepping through enough doors. 🚪
Either that or you really, really, really need to stop accidentally doing home invasions.
generally not a fan of installing monarchies but given that Iran’s only achievements since ’79 have been terror and destruction, it’s hard to imagine the CIA asset down the road in Potomac doing much worse.
btw the Lion and the Sun podcast is incredibly relevant for what Iran is going thru.
the Hoax! podcast was an unexpected delight of 2025 and their most recent episode about the mechanical turk included some apt contemporary comparisons (cough Optimus)

It annoys me that Teams invested all this effort in making an arguably unhinged emoji pack without also adding the standard emojis (e.g., country flags).
A colleague asked the team to "check in" for an upcoming outing and I had to spend an extra 5 mins finding and uploading a :flag-cz: (🇨🇿) emoji to react with for maximum pun efficacy.
Halfway thru The Quantum Magician and I cannot put this book down. The Puppets of course steal the show, so horrifying and fascinating at the same time as they’re really just a mirror on ourselves, both in universe and figuratively.
I pull a few pieces of spaghetti out of the box, accidentally breaking a few in the process, and then throw them all at the wall, dry, to see if they stick, and none of them do and some of the pieces fall in a crack full of crumbs and stuff that I can see into sometimes but can't reach into.
it’s here, all six episodes, probably gonna get started on it shortly #kenburns #americanrevolution

don’t normally link to xitter but this is a solid take on the expectations around AI and how they might eventually crash into reality (note I didn’t say the B word)
my take is go long on GOOGL and AAPL, both being well situated to pick up some deals if/when these startups run into headwinds
for the latter I could see one of these “AI” browsers being pulled into Safari on the cheap
@hardly_ted this is a long one too, just over 5 hours!
new ep just dropped #podcast #fallofcivilzations
from here on out I’m using the train to get to the C and D gates even if it means having to walk thru the dreaded PenFed tunnel where I can hear all about the great rates across America
I used to spend weekends "optimizing" my life. Then I got a life.
Meal prep, side projects, learning new technologies, organizing my digital files, catching up on industry reading—it felt productive.
It was actually exhausting.
When you fill every moment with productivity, you're preventing the rest that makes weekday productivity possible.
Even that description is a "productivity" framing. Productivity is the tail wagging the dog for most us.
