feeling like I leveled up a bit today in go concurrency. took a big processing thing I wrote that was going to take 6-8hrs and got it running in 12 minutes. beats the living hell out of the desktop but why have the CPUs and RAM if I'm not going to use it?

Damn. The SSD in the work NUC is dying. Luckily it's only being used for scratch data and I've got spares, but still.

I'm slowly spinning up a new instance for myself (long story, not going into it now). Some folks will see follows from a new sungo account. DM if you want me to verify.

sadly, These Times mean I can't rock out with the stereo because I'm not the only one working from home here these days. Sadly, I unhooked the stereo in my office over the weekend.

I'd love to use the weechat plugin because it organizes shit much better for my brain but it misses thread creation a _lot_ and my coworkers fucking love threads.

It doesn't matter what time I start or end work. The start of my day will always feature at least five new slack threads, mentions in ten channels, all of them "urgent". Today, folks noticed I logged in and barraged me with DMs asking me to weigh in on threads. And their threads happened in multiple channels with different members, at least one of the channels private.

I fucking hate slack.

I do so love DO's 1-click installs. I need to find the right people at work and send them :flan_hug: . They saved me so much goddamn time and stress tonight

it would be so much easier if I trusted anyone else to run the services by which I connect to my tribe.

@tek it is deeply evil but an evil that I can respect. Mostly because I know that some firmware devs had a fun time being hyper-literal about their requirements docs. "It has to boot just like if that cd was in the drive? Exactly like that? Very well."

@tek they mostly won me back when they added http iso boot to ilo. When they first introduced it, there was code inside that mapped the http calls to the internal cdrom. If you watched the http server logs, you could watch the cd drive do "seeks" against the iso it thought was in the drive.

@tek I still remember the first time I was presented with ilo, back when it still required a browser and fucking java applet to log onto the console. My official response: "fuck you. fuck your entire company."

@banjofox yeah I'd give you Hako Clear switches, from my favorite line :) They're quite the workout. Violets have helped teach me to type lighter
