FUN FACT: a vertical slice of a side scroller does not make for a very compelling proof of concept

@aeva

Neat. I think arrows on the lines would be helpful, or some way of telling directionality. On larger formulae it could be difficult to tell if it's doing add(sin(mul(...))) or mul(sin(add(...))).

@GameFromScratch @YoSoyFreeman

I know I'd like it, this video was quite interesting. More "where are they now" or "the history of" videos would be both interesting and useful to get a broader and longer perspective on game engines, especially for younger devs who only know of engines beginning with U.

Once upon a time, CryEngine was among the most promising game engines out there.

These days, it's barely used and even more rarely updated. We look at the past, present and future of CryEngine answering... What happened?

You know I've been mulling over the differences between JRPG, CRPG, and ARPG for a while, trying to come up with some sort of rubric. I think I'm starting to settle on something that I'm beginning to initially start to like the sound of, for starters... But what's your opinion? What differentiates the J's from the C's from the A's?

Yes, I vibe code!

That is: I work on a solution until I can vibe with it ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘ˆ Good code just feels different, y'know!

I don't like this new game from Microsoft where you have to hunt down every one of these little fuckers and turn them off.

A screenshot from VS Code with some code visible in the background. In the foreground is a context menu, popping from an icon on the left that looks like two stars. The context menu has 3 options:
- Configure Keybinding,
- Hide 'Generate Commit Message with Copilot'
- Generate Commit Message with Copilot (with a checkmark icon next to it).

The mouse is hovering over the second, "hide" option.

Now there's neat stuff this lets me do (I map GRADIENTS to each material group, not solid colors, that's why the B&W is so value-heavy) but the point is more:

your art pipeline doesn't have to be like anyone else's. Evict the manager in your head. Figure out what works for YOUR team, and do that.

No, our job is PRECISELY to use our games as an outlet for our own views and believes, Jon Bellamy, CEO of Jagex, who recently cancelled annual Pride events in RuneScape โ€œto protect against backlashโ€.

What the fuck do you think weโ€™re making here?

A snippet from a news article that reads:

In their email, Jagex management also told staff: โ€œAs a studio, we must stay grounded in the mission we all share, and thatโ€™s making great games for players. Our job is not to use the game as an outlet for our own views, but to craft worlds that serve our players, offering immersion, escape and meaning.
