@faraiwe @GottaLaff Aligned interests is also known as "interest convergence," where people who wouldn't normally be aligned can both benefit from an approach so they both support it. Much of the civil rights laws were enacted as a result of interest convergence. Some American conservative politicians were worried that the USSR would gain a foothold with newly freed African countries because of Jim Crow policies in the south. Bills passed. Alliance ended. The rest you know.

Congrats, @kevinrothrock. My premature twins (33 weeks gestation and 35-days in NICU) just graduated Summa Cum Laude from CSUN.

Question for any/every one: how long does it take the average person to find a source that will say/write something that makes them feel comfortable?

I’ve had two recent interactions that make me realize that misinformation starts with folks feeling uncomfortable with what is happening around them. One was an Uber driver struggling to make ends meet and the next was my father-in-law.

The Uber driver knows that the Biden Administration is pure evil. I didn’t engage but I did facilitate the divulging of the many conspiracies indicating misinformation. My father-in-law is watching the pet while we attend our daughter’s ceremony. I show him how to work the TV and it’s not as easy as it should be. We “cut the cord” and only have over the air broadcast or streaming services available.

Our opinions are influenced by the information we consume. It’s like a bad diet. Too much sugar.

Finally saw a CyberTruck in person. Looked better than expected.

Austin’s not really Texas, @OldAndCranky. It’s gone a little too corporate since the pandemic hit but y’all can still find some good music and barbecue if you know where to look. A visit in April will be ok temperature wise and there should still be blue bonnets.
