@alysondecker 100%. And nice to know it's a real problem. I've had the pain for awhile, but it's been a slow onset. It's felt like I'm going crazy because the pain hasn't always felt real, as weird as that sounds. Just nice to know I can start addressing the problem and I'm not making up the pain in my head.

Nothing says "you're getting old prematurely" like getting diagnosed with arthritis when you're younger than 40. The relief is that it explains a lot. But now I know it's also not going away.

As a #baseball fan, it's amazing how much different it is watching the World Baseball Classic under the old rules and Spring Training under the new rules. The Spring Training games are so much better and so much more interesting. It makes me wonder how we were able to put up with such a slog prior to this season and really realize just how bad it had gotten. Pitch clock ftw and good riddance to the shift.

Travel is exhausting. I went to bed at 7:30 last night and woke up at 7. I could easily do the same thing tonight. #travel

After the bird site fiasco, why does anyone give a shit about what Elon thinks about anything? I keep seeing articles about what he thinks about AI or the economy or leadership. He's the last person I would ever go to for advice or insight on any of those topics

RSV is awful. Finally getting back on my feet after having it knock me out for almost a week. This flu season has just been the worst.

Trying to keep it upbeat, so I'll give another shout-out to the show Shrinking. Every episode is great and a stellar mix of serious issues and humor. Well acted, well written, and good TV.

@UncannyKyle totally. Just nice to have something to jam on again. I have a Taylor acoustic, but my callouses and hand strength haven't built up, so hoping the electric will help me get some of that strength and callous back.

In happier news, I got a new guitar. Played in high school and a little in college. 20 years later, trying to pick it up again. Hopefully gives me another tactile outlet along with woodworking.

I've lost family, friends, and coworkers to cancer over the years, and it never gets easier. If anything it gets worse.

Two women close to my family were both diagnosed with breast cancer and our family found out this week. One of them had to terminate a pregnancy because of how aggressively the cancer was spreading. She's in her mid-30s. I don't really know how to process that.

Fuck cancer.

Sums up a lot of my thoughts right now. ChatGPT is "cool" at the moment, but it also passes the Turing Test in a lot of wrong ways. Most people can't distinguish between proficient responses and self-awareness, and AI is nowhere near self-awareness.
