George Harrison would have turned 80 today — or maybe it was really yesterday — in the material world. Here's a repost of my birthday card to George, revisiting the vibrant period between his 25th and 26th birthdays, from February 1968-69 🎂🎸🕉

They probably would have gotten back together even sooner had Billy Preston and Glyn Johns not been out of the country and George didn't have a tonsillectomy.
This is when I used to give the 🔥hot take🔥 that the Get Back sessions couldn't have been so awful, they were eager to record again just a couple weeks later, only held up by legit reasons like tonsils essential personnel tied up overseas. Not so hot anymore! (and that's OK!)
54 years ago today, a little more than 3 weeks after The Roof, the Beatles & Billy Preston (minus George Harrison's tonsils) were marvelously loud at Trident in their first recorded stab at "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" -- the blurry line between end of Get Back sessions & start of Abbey Road https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvT4BUFauqc

@frank Aaah, thank you!! 🙌
Let's go! A conversation between myself, Doug Sulpy and Robert Rodriguez, host of Something About the Beatles. Get Back talk!

Happy 90th, Yoko!🎂
(That's a year and a half older than Brian Epstein would have been, almost two years older than Elvis and more than three years older than Buddy Holly & Roy Orbison)
Happy Valentine’s Day from myself, my candy jar and the Beatles in the ‘70s ♥️💙💜💛💚
Q: "Do you have any favorite sport here in America, such as baseball or American football?"
JOHN & RINGO: "We don't like ANY sport."
PAUL: "Very unsporting, really. Smoking is a sport." 🚬

Happy Super Bowl Sunday to those who observe! Here’s John Lennon “of the original Beatles” on football, to Howard Cosell in 1974: “It makes rock concerts look like tea parties.” #SuperBowl 🏈🎸☕️🎉 https://youtu.be/oyRgu0ilPGw
@toniac1052 I see it!
Happy #puppybowl Sunday! 🐕 https://youtu.be/D8lxEKaCPP8
Award shows are weird! And on this #GRAMMYs night, it's a fine time to look back at the time John Wayne awarded some hardware to Let It Be. From deep within the TMBP archives: https://theymaybeparted.com/2012/03/16/tmbp-extra-the-quiet-man/
OTD (February 4) in 1968, the Beatles started recording "Across the Universe,” inadvertently starting to cut the “Let It Be” LP. Here's a bit about the failed attempts at the song started anew in the 1969 Get Back sessions https://theymaybeparted.com/tag/across-the-universe/
@theymaybeparted ack my dog jostled me and I clicked the wrong one! I’ve never seen it!!
@sharyn that’s ok, it’s not a scientific poll!
