@whitequark With Helldivers the difference between playing with people who take it far too seriously vs. people who find the failures hilarious is stunning.

Unfortunately in random groups the former is far more common, so I only play solo or with a friend group where I know we're going to have fun when we screw up.

@the_white_wolf oh yeah game dev release pressures are intense, and it definitely makes sense the aging engine is likely a big part of the problem as it clearly struggles to perform on higher end hardware.

Regardless, I’m still having a blast and the official framegen patch will likely help a lot, considering how well the unofficial one works. It just enables a hidden, but likely “unfinished”framegen option already present in the game and gave me a roughly 40% FPS increase.

@darkuncle @howelloneill Or at the very least require that service can be cancelled without requiring live communication with another person, for those of us that struggle with such things. (I should have cancelled this a month ago but phone calls are hard.)

@TurnipCannon The problem is I'm being told a 45 min wait even to get to someone to start trying their scripts.

Also, I was just straight up with the initial guy and said I tried it out for a couple months just to humour the sales guy at my door cause it was cheap. Told him I was cancelling because the actual provided upload speed was insufficient because I WFH and work in cybersecurity. That bypassed any suggestion he was going to make about going through the troubleshooting gauntlet but then that landed me in this 45 min queue...

I love how it's basically standard operating procedure for telecom providers to understaff their loyalty departments so you have to wait a significant amount of time to cancel a service. 🙄

So after a first full session for each class, even though with the new rules none of the fastest lap times actually mattered:

Moto3 is going to be super competitive as always but it sounds like the updates to the KTMs after the tech upgrade unfreeze are far more significant than what Honda brought. Rider wise it looks like it's going to be mostly the same guys near the top as last year other than the ones that moved up to Moto2. Rueda looks particularly strong so far but Holgado, Nepa, Ortola, and Alonso all looking pretty decent too.

Moto2 is going to be super exciting. A lot of big team switches, new tyre supplier, and a hefty rookie contingent. I think the rider I'm most excited to watch, especially after the first practice, is Deniz Oncu. Also, I'd love to see Canet finally get his first win.

And my god MotoGP is going to be absolutely nuts this year. Pedro Acosta, MM93 on Ducati, Pecco strong as ever, Bastianini looks to be back in form, Martin hasn't skipped a beat, etc etc etc. I'm super excited to be attending the Catalunya race and looks like I might also get to go to the US GP in Austin.

The current proliferation of AI is mind boggling to me.

They basically took what was one of the biggest challenges in ML in my mind, curating a good set of valid training data, and said "what if we just ingest all the data and ignore any concept of validity or truthfulness?"

And here we are now relying on services that are feeding us information that sounds like it could be true, but we have no idea where the information is sourced from and if that source is trustworthy.

Biggest disappointment of the Toronto #motorcycle show this weekend was when I sat on the MV Agusta Superveloce Turismo and it was not comfortable, at least not nearly as comfortable as you’d expect for a touring bike. The Guzzi V100 on the other hand was great and still at the top of my sport tourer list but I really love the styling of the MV 😔

Normalize not trying to force people on the spectrum to adhere to your corporate social norms and use up their valuable energy on masking their true self instead of doing the thing you pay them to do.
