@stephen_cornford It's not whataboutism. And I'm not saying that weapons of war lead to good things. What Israel is doing is awful and defenceless and the fact that the western world implicitly support it, as you say, is a fucking disgrace. Palestine should be protected and Israel put under the harshest sanctions possible. That, however, doesn't change the equation between Europe and Russia. We still have to invest in weapons r&d. No sane person wants war, but war is here now nonetheless.

War is never a good thing. But at the same time we can't just sit idly by and watch Russia commit war crimes in Ukraine and preparing to do the same in other countries. Doing nothing is implicit support for the oppressing party.

The future of warfare is happening right now, to the absolute horror of everyone involved. The sad reality of this is that we have to be at the forefront because if we're not we'll be the next victims. That needs investment.

@jwz I've never been to the US and have always wanted to see the Grand Canyon, Alcatraz, other tourist spots, and experience the buzz of NYC and San Francisco. To travel around and meet American online friends.

Since the introduction of the TSA I've been more and more hesitant to go, and since Trump took office again I can say that I 100% have no wish to go there any more. And I'm certainly not alone in that opinion.
