We have Limited the Instance furry.engineer for failing to moderate anti-Black racism. We acknowledge it is only a small group of members spreading misinformation and harrassing Black people on Mastodon, but this is an ongoing issue.
In a week, if the admins are still not moderating responsibly, we will progress to Suspension.
Aus.social is an antiracist Instance, and we do not condone anti-Black behaviour.
Hey, fellow furries.
Did you know that the concept of the fursona was effectively created and popularized by a Black man?
It's true! Ken Sample's still in the fandom, too!
So maybe, just a thought, we of the printer-paper-pigmented disposition in the fandom need to have a reckoning with ourselves about some shit. Just puttin' that out there.
Changing your mind does not mean you are weak or indecisive. It can take great strength to re-evaluate and change course when it is the right thing to do, and great courage to do so even at the risk of seeming inconsistent. It is never the wrong time to make the right decision.
A friend recently asked me what my personal definition of #Therian was, and I figured I’d share it since I don’t think I’ve seen it put quite the way I see it: It all boils down to what’d happen if your body representation was remade from your internal self-image alone, totally ignoring the body you have now.
Different sex, as would have been demonstrated in the the original (studio-nixed) concept for Switch in The Matrix? Trans. Different *species*? Therian.
I think it’s no coincidence that both have corresponding performative expressions that range from being strictly orthogonal to the above (a character with no bearing on the self, for fun or otherwise), to being a matter of expressing one’s true self (with no detachment, for feelings of affirmative euphoria), and everywhere in-between—all valid.
I was lucky to run across “Fursuiting is interspecies drag” years ago—it’s a nugget of wisdom that really pans out once you grok the easily-conflated range of motivations involved.
I find it frustrating that I have to force myself to accept compliments.
I know deep down that they're not just saying it to make me feel better about myself, but that reflex to reject it is strong...
Strictly speaking a relationship between two it/its folks isn't a straight or gay couple

Since I'm new here, why not repost that one old comic of mine?
How do I teach my body that the fight or flight response is supposed to be for life or death situations not when my phone rings
