After accidentally buying two different IDE optical drives, I found a SATA drive that didn't fit into the MacBook chassis. It was a bit stressful swapping the top lid of the drives, but now my MacBook has a working optical drive! :neomouse_happy:

“Separate the art from the artist” is an idea from literary criticism: it’s about giving you permission to talk about what the art _does_ without having to argue about whether the artist _intended_ that effect.
