As a teenager I was obsessed with astronomy, and through my local observatory I had the opportunity to become a guide in the Antwerp Zoo Planetarium.

One condition: I also had to know all of the common and most of the uncommon constellations by heart. (You know, not to be outsmarted by witty kids.) Since I was more of a theory guy, I passed the opportunity.

I should just have invented my own constellations.

I have updated the🇧🇪 🚂 Railway Diagram trilogy for 2026. These three diagrams are based on a 30° structure in order to fit the numerous radial lines to . They attempt to untangle the many hourly services around Brussels. However, by 2026, some of the S trains had been somewhat systematised. There are weekday and weekend versions. In addition, a third diagram shows all single P trains of .

Walkable cities should become a pleonasm.

Following the launch of Claude Code, US GitHub code pushes were 30% above the pre-2025 trend.

Similarly iOS app releases were up 55% vs last January, and new website registrations rose 34% year over year globally after years of flatlining.

AI productivity gains have hit software in a major way.

Where would you place this sign?

Wall text in black letters reads, “Please be advised that this room contains nudity and some explicit imagery,” displayed on a plain off-white museum wall.

Happy Birthday to Douglas Hofstadter (born 15 February 1945), cognitive and computer scientist, author of "Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid" and "I Am a Strange Loop".

From GEB, Hofstadter's law - "It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law."

From IAASL - “In the end, we self-perceiving, self-inventing, locked-in mirages are little miracles of self-reference.”

How many of you were influenced by GEB?

An absurd image featuring a distorted, flattened photo of a calico cat superimposed over a breaking ocean wave. The text is a "shower thought" that reads: "There are more airplanes in the ocean than submarines in the sky."
