we're starting to get furniture for our house, and I am in shock about how much couches cost! It literally costs $2000 for anything decent that won't break!
I am a Distributed Systems PHD Student at Emory University working in the SimBioSys Lab. This is my work profile. The more serious side.

Anyone who got hexclad cookware willing to share their experience? I am thinking about getting them, but I have seen a lot of mixed reviews online.
Morning walks to catch the bus got a little bit more interesting
@dan @pci_express Box<Cat> Pixel I guess
@ricci Yeah, I wish I could be in any other place other than California lol.
@ricci It was like that for me in Atlanta, but now in Bay area it is either a 45 minute drive (either myself or company shuttle). This really kills my motivation to go into the office.
Saw this on the street! Does the miata have a "My other car is lamborghini"?
Also don't know many people in Bay area, if anyone wants to come over for Indian food, happy to host!
Finally cooked a proper meal!
Life update over the last 2-ish months:
1. Graduated with a PhD from Emory (Still can't believe it)
2. Moved to Bay area, and found a house (Harder than the PhD defense).
3. Started work with Meta as a Research Scientist in the Linux Kernel team!
@lindsey Have you read the paper from AWS in SOSP 2021?
@dan Glad to see experts were working on the upgrade!
Finally glad to be living in a house with gas stove!
Socc 2025 is going fully remote, and I feel bad about it. I have had a lot more meaningful conversations at SoCC than other conferences. Hopefully, it could still be held in person somewhere! 😔
Moving to California from Atlanta has educated me on the fact that literally any job other than being a grad student pays more.
(This is not to say others should be paid less, but more to say PhD students need to be paid more)
@wiersdorf @dev vibe brewed my tea. Ended up with kombucha.
I want suggestions for water kettle with temperature control that I can use to make tea at home.
