Vuntra City

VR city exploration game in development
store.steampowered.com/app/285

Replaced my NPC models with more humanoid low poly ones with generated skin, hair, and outfit colors. They are still placeholders and the final characters will likely be more detailed, but they give a better idea of what the city population will look like.

If you prefer to explore Vuntra City during a particular time of day, you can fast forward time by using the street clock panels ⏱️

New devlog about long term project motivation and how I've managed to keep up my pace on Vuntra City so far: youtu.be/y6DgFu3SxjY

Starting to populate my city with NPCs! Exactly 1,048,576 characters with persistent IDs and paths are simulated in real time, but only displayed when the player is close. Still need to teach them to respect verticality and walkable areas, but it's a start.

@protopop Thank you! Your procedural wilderness looks very cool too!

@runevision Can't think of any right now, but it occurred to me that if I got around to reviving mine I probably couldn't resist adding some.

@runevision Looking good! Planning any easter eggs 😉? That reminds me, I still need to revive my own personal website. Couldn't be bothered to upgrade it from and old wordpress template, so I just took it down a few years ago.

New devlog inspired by the discussions I've had at EPC 2025. It's about performance optimization techniques I use in my project. Check it out!

I've been super busy with the playtest and fixing the issues it identified, so I haven't been posting here much. But here's a little update on how it went: youtu.be/PAYfkLP0xwY?si=-WYLt2

@orange_lux My first game Cyberflow was made for Android so it's probably removed from the store by now for being outdated. The second app is called HalftonePro and it is available at halftonepro.com

Some thoughts I've had recently on the topic of making small games vs Dream Game

Procedural shelves full of procedural books. And yes there are also unique ones that you can spot from afar and get unique effects from by reading (not pictured).

@lamnatos Enter The Void is my favorite of the bunch, and I still think it's the best representation of a first person experience of living in a big city on film, this movie made me feel like I'm really there. And like I said it's mostly the aesthetics (I can't promise a comparable story or ideas).

Films that inspired my city exploration game Vuntra City. At least in terms of aesthetics and atmosphere.

@runevision Haha some of them do have walls of glass!

How Vuntra City's procedural office spaces have evolved over time.

@Aron Thank you! I will be publishing more as the work progresses.

Come take a walk in my procedural city with me... and get lost, but just a bit 😉
