Long time since last update to #Sailimgur imgur app for @Jolla @SailfishOS. Thanks to PR it is now a bit better. After QA gets to it. It was a bit harder to test the PR as I don't have modern #Jolla device and #SailfoshOS SDK doesn't support Apple Silicon.

@aegg You need Virtualbox (or Docker) to run the SDK emulator so running inside VM wouldn't work. It's not just Apple Silicon but also other Arm-based OS.

Trying to figure out what to do with the PR I got to Sailimgur #SailfishOS app. Found out that the SDK supports onlyIntel CPUs and Apple silicon is not supported :( Merge without testing or setup old x86 MBP for just this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I doubt that #Jolla spends any development time for supporting Apple Silicon in the near future as this same issue was raised 3 years ago.

After checking about:config, "Hide weather on New Tab" sets the config value "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.showWeather" to "false", but leaves "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.weatherfeed" as the default of "true". So, my suspicion was correct, #Firefox is still sending your location off every 30 minutes to get the weather in the background by default even if you disable this new widget: https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/source/browser/components/newtab/lib/WeatherFeed.sys.mjs #infosec #privacy

Fortunately https://github.com/webponize/webponize is available in GitHub. The problem is that before building 1. fork repo 2. migrate dependency 3. fork submodule (not maintained) 4. fix bug in submodule 5. update submodule 🥵 6. fix rest of issues.

Now I've a working app 🫠 (and learned to use SwiftPM)
