At a recent event some of my colleagues expressed concern that they did not get a chance to see a real live moose.
I explained to them that seeing a real live moose is a very good way to also get to see how the Canadian medical system works.

I may be a little late to this party, but Twitter is no longer a place for serious professional discourse.
Alan Turing is widely recognized as a hero and a genius. He’s considered the father of theoretical computer science and AI.
But he was also a gay man whom the British government chemically castrated.
Turing killed himself because of the way his government treated him.
What more might he have done had he lived?
As this wave of hatred sweeps the US, I wonder how many gay and trans Alan Turings we’ve already lost, and how many we’ll continue to lose.
The drive to make every friggin' communication channel we have useless makes me crazy.
I guess that I can take comfort that this is the "last time".

I feel automated management of transitive dependencies is a double-edged sword: yes, it can help to set up things quickly, but it also makes it too easy in a way to be mindless about adding dependencies of just minor value, increasing odds for dependency conflicts eventually.
